🚨 Washington is making it harder for law-abiding citizens to exercise their rights.

Starting May 1, 2027, HB 1163 forces anyone who wants to buy or transfer a firearm to first get a government “Permit to Purchase” from the Washington State Patrol.

What used to be a straightforward process — background check and 10-day wait — now requires:

• A certified safety course with mandatory live-fire training
• Fingerprinting by local law enforcement
• Submitting an application to the state with extra fees
• Waiting 30 to 60 days for state approval

Only after jumping through all these new hoops can you finally purchase a firearm.

This law doesn’t stop criminals — they’ll keep ignoring the rules. It targets legal gun owners with more time, more money, and more government red tape.

Good news for current owners: If you already legally own fi****ms, this bill does not affect your ability to keep, use, or carry them. No new requirements for guns you already have.

The real impact hits when you want to buy something new or renew your Concealed Pistol License (CPL). Then you’ll face the full new process.

Good news for 5.56/.223 shooters!

The ATF has issued Ruling 2026-1, officially exempting SS109/M855 projectiles and projectile cores from the “armor piercing ammunition” definition under federal law.

What is M855 / SS109?
It’s the common 62-grain 5.56×45mm NATO round (green tip) with a steel core penetrator inside a copper jacket. Originally developed for military use, it’s become one of the most popular sporting, training, and competition loads for AR-15s and other .223/5.56 rifles across the country.

While the loaded M855 cartridge itself has long been exempt as “primarily intended for sporting purposes” (since 1986), the steel-core projectiles were still technically classified as armor-piercing. This new ruling brings the projectiles in line with the cartridge exemption.

Bottom line: Clearer rules for manufacturers, sellers, and shooters. These popular sporting rounds can continue to be made and sold under normal ammunition regulations.

Another small but meaningful step toward reducing unnecessary regulatory burdens on law-abiding gun owners.

🚨 7TH CIRCUIT UPHOLDS ILLINOIS SEMI-AUTO BAN — STRAIGHT-UP TYRANNY! 🚨

On july 9th the 7th Circuit just upheld Illinois’ ban on semiautomatic weapons. They’re stripping law-abiding Americans of the most popular rifles in the country while ignoring Supreme Court precedent.

This is judicial activism and an all-out attack on the Second Amendment. “Assault weapon” is just a made-up scare term to disarm honest citizens.

The anti-gun crowd and activist judges won’t stop until we’re all helpless. But the Supreme Court has already taken up similar cases — the fight is far from over.

To every patriot in Illinois standing against this: Hold the line. America is watching.

🔫 Long-Term Safe Storage: Keeping Your Guns in Tip-Top Shape 🔫

Hey Freedom Range fam! When your fi****ms are going into long-term storage inside a gun safe, the goal changes from quick range-day readiness to protecting them from rust, corrosion, and degradation over months or even years. Here’s how to keep them in excellent condition while stored:

Safety first — Always store fi****ms unloaded and properly secured in a quality gun safe.

Long-term storage tips:
✅ Clean thoroughly before storage — Remove all powder residue, carbon, and fouling. A spotless gun stores far better than one with leftover gunk.
✅ Lubricate with storage in mind — Apply a light, even coat of quality CLP or gun oil to all metal surfaces and moving parts. Some owners run a slightly oily patch through the bore for extra long-term protection.
✅ Control moisture inside the safe — Humidity is the biggest threat during long-term storage. Use rechargeable desiccant packs to actively pull moisture from the air.
✅ Add protective layers — Place guns in silicone-treated gun socks inside the safe for an extra barrier against dust and minor humidity changes.
✅ Inspect periodically — Even in long-term storage, check your fi****ms every 6–12 months. Wipe them down, recharge desiccants, and re-lube as needed.

🚨 GUN SAFETY PSA: This is how you do NOT handle a firearm.

Watch this video and count how many basic rules get completely ignored in under 30 seconds. Pointing it at his own face… finger on the trigger the entire time… casually waving it around like it’s a flashlight.

It’s almost impressive how many safety violations he packed into one short clip. 😬

But let’s drop the jokes for a second — this is straight-up stupid and extremely dangerous. One negligent discharge and someone’s life is over or changed forever. This kind of behavior doesn’t just risk the person doing it… it sets a terrible example for every new shooter!

We take this stuff seriously because responsible gun ownership is what actually protects the Second Amendment. We want people shooting safely, having fun, and going home in one piece.

Quick reminder of the rules that should never be optional:

🔹 Treat every firearm as if it is loaded
🔹 Never point the muzzle at anything you are not willing to destroy
🔹 Keep your finger OFF the trigger until your sights are on target and you’ve made the decision to shoot
🔹 Know your target and what is beyond it

🎯 Scope Height, Cheek Weld & the "Buttstock Up High" Problem

Hey Freedom fam!

Seeing a lot of shooters lately fighting their rifle just to see through the scope — buttstock jammed way up high on the shoulder, neck craned, shoulders tense. Looks uncomfortable and kills consistency.

The real issue? Scope mounting height, stock comb height, or both? There’s no universal “correct” height. What actually matters is getting a natural, repeatable cheek weld where your eye lines up perfectly with the optic without forcing weird body positions.

That’s why a lot of AR shooters run scope risers or taller rings — they’re often a game-changer for comfort, faster target acquisition, and better consistency.

Here’s a quick way to check if YOUR setup is right:

1. Close your eyes.
2. Naturally shoulder the rifle and settle into a comfortable cheek weld.
3. Open your eyes.

Are you looking straight through the center of the scope with a full, clear field of view? No head tilting or neck straining?

✅ Yes = You’re good.
❌ No = Your scope is probably mounted too low for your natural cheek position (or your comb is too low). Time to try taller rings, a riser, or an adjustable comb.

Many were taught “lower is always better,” but once you get it dialed to YOUR body, it makes a massive difference in how the rifle feels and how well you shoot.
