Marketing Over Coffee ☕
Welcome to Marketing Over Coffee, your daily dose of tips, tricks, and all things marketing. Grab your coffee, get comfortable, and let’s talk about one of the biggest reasons businesses struggle on social media: consistency.
When you think about posting online, what’s the first thing that comes to mind?
Maybe it’s wondering what to post, which platform to post on, or comparing every idea you have to businesses that seem to have it all figured out.
That cycle of trying to create the perfect post often leads to posting… nothing at all.
And unfortunately, no post is far worse than an imperfect one.
Whether we like it or not, social media has become one of the most accessible and affordable marketing tools available. If your business isn’t showing up online, you’re leaving opportunities—and customers—on the table.
One of the biggest misconceptions about social media is that every post has to be flawless.
It doesn’t.
Your audience isn’t grading your graphics or counting every awkward pause in your videos. They’re simply asking one question:
“Can I count on this business to show up?”
Think about your favorite local coffee shop.
You keep going back because you know what to expect. They’re open when they say they’ll be open, the coffee tastes familiar, and you’ve built trust with them over time.
Social media works the exact same way.
Showing up consistently creates familiarity.
Familiarity builds trust.
And trust turns followers into customers.
Now, consistency doesn’t mean posting every single day.
In fact, trying to post constantly is one of the fastest ways to burn yourself out. It’s much better to post once or twice every week for an entire year than post every day for two weeks and disappear for two months.
The goal isn’t perfection.
The goal is presence.
👉 How Do You Stay Consistent?
One of the hardest parts of social media is creating a routine that’s actually sustainable.
The worst thing you can do is sprint at the beginning, gain your audience’s trust, and then vanish because you exhausted yourself.
Instead, try what I call the 3-Day Grind.
✨ Day 1: Brainstorm
Set aside about 20 minutes and write down every content idea that comes to mind.
If you get stuck, think about these three categories:
• Educate – Teach your audience something they didn’t know.
• Connect – Tell a story, introduce yourself, or show behind the scenes.
• Entertain – Make them laugh, smile, or simply enjoy following your business.
Then decide how often you can realistically post.
Not your dream schedule.
Your real schedule.
If that’s once a week, that’s perfectly okay. Pick your day and stick with it.
✨ Day 2: Create
Now it’s time to make the content.
Remember—it doesn’t have to be perfect.
Film a quick tip.
Take a photo of your workspace.
Show a product.
Introduce an employee.
Share a customer success story.
Answer a question you hear all the time.
You don’t need a groundbreaking idea every week.
People follow your business because they want your perspective, not someone else’s.
✨ Day 3: Write & Schedule
Write your captions and schedule everything ahead of time.
A simple rule I like to follow is:
If your image or video does most of the teaching:
Keep the caption short—one or two sentences is plenty.
If your photo or video is simple:
Use the caption to tell the story, educate your audience, or include a call to action.
For example:
“Comment ‘Guide’ and I’ll send you more information.”
or
“DM me if you’d like help getting started.”
Scheduling your posts through Meta Business Suite or another social media management platform means your content keeps working even when you’re busy running your business.
By spreading the work across three days, social media becomes far less overwhelming and much easier to maintain long-term.
☕ Coffee Break Challenge
Before you finish your coffee…
Open your calendar.
Choose the days and times you’ll realistically dedicate to social media this week.
Then commit to showing up.
Remember:
One consistent post every week is better than seven perfect posts that never get published.
Consistency is built one post at a time.
☕ Today’s Coffee Takeaway: Your audience doesn’t need perfection, they need proof that you’ll still be here next week.
