As of 10am, Saturday morning the Board Shanty Fire is roughly 469 acres, with containment at 4%.
There are still three areas listed as "Level 2 - Set" evacuation level: JCU-436, JCU-437, JCU-448-A
There are also two areas listed as "Level 1 - Ready" evacuation level: JAC-068, JCU-448-B
Last night, incident resources maintained the direct lines on the north end of the fire and used established hose lays to begin cooling the north perimeter. On the south end, the fire escaped initial control lines and new lines had to be established.
High temperatures and gusty winds are anticipated throughout the day and will drive active fire behavior. Crews and heavy equipment on the ground will hold and improve established lines to the north, continue strengthening a direct line to the south, and hold the current fire perimeter. Smoke will be visible in the area throughout the day.
Air resources, including helicopters, air tankers, and air attack planes, will again assist ground crews with water and retardant drops. Helicopters will be the most utilized by aiding in cooling portions of the fire so ground crews can build on containment lines.
As a reminder, drone use near fires is both illegal and extremely dangerous to pilots working on incidents. If you fly, fire fighting aircraft cannot. All illegal drone use will be reported to law enforcement.
