“For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man?
If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.”
— Galatians 1:10 (ESV)
The world is loud with opinions — what to wear, how to live, what success should look like. It’s easy to start measuring ourselves by those shifting standards, hoping for affirmation or applause. But remember: the same world that cheered for Jesus one day shouted “Crucify Him!” the next. If even the sinless Son of God was rejected by the world, we shouldn’t be surprised when we are too.
We all want to be liked, understood, and accepted — that’s human. But as followers of Christ, our calling is higher than popularity. Our peace doesn’t come from the approval of others; it flows from the assurance that we are already loved, chosen, and redeemed by the One whose opinion truly matters.
You can please some of the people some of the time, but you’ll never please all of them — and that’s okay. The good news is, you don’t have to. When your heart seeks God’s “Well done” more than the world’s “Well liked,” you’ll find a freedom that no amount of validation can give.
So today, pause and ask yourself: Whose approval am I living for? Let God’s voice be the loudest one you hear.
