Today we honor the extraordinary life of Mildred Evalena Fizer, a 2020 West Virginia Wonder Woman, who passed away at the age of 104 on Friday.

Mildred wasn’t just a leader—she was a trailblazer. The first woman in the nation to direct a state 4-H program, she opened doors for generations of women who would follow. Under her leadership, West Virginia’s 4-H participation soared, and her lifelong dedication to education, service, and community shaped thousands of young lives across our state.

A teacher, a mentor, a giver, and a fierce believer in the potential of young people—Mildred embodied what it means to build a better West Virginia. What a legacy and what a Wonder Woman. 💚✨

2020 West Virginia Wonder Woman Mildred Fizer became the first woman in the nation to direct a state 4-H program.

Fife Street Brewing isn’t just about the beer (though their Charleston Beer and Charlie West Coast IPA are local legends). It’s about connection, community, and that unmistakable Charleston energy. Stop in for a grilled cheese, stay for the vibe, and see why it’s more than a brewery. 🍻
