Did you know? Honoring the Brave - Origins and Significance Veterans Day is a U.S. federal holiday observed annually on November 11th to honor all those who have served in the United States Armed Forces. It is distinct from Memorial Day, which honors those who have died in service, and is celebrated to thank both living and deceased veterans for their service, sacrifice, and patriotism. The holiday originated as Armistice Day in 1919, commemorating the end of World War I at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, before its name was officially changed in 1954 to include all U.S. veterans.
