What's next? Our concert series takes a wee break in January and then we're back with Trios by Shostakovich and Schubert on February 15, 2026 (can you believe it?) at Saint James Place for Arts and Culture in Great Barrington. The acoustics at SJP are astounding!

Wonderful Blue Rider Stables has a holiday auction running right now with lovely offerings, including a subscription for four (4) CEWM tickets allowing flexibility to choose any four of the remaining five 2026 season concerts.

Tickets may be used as a group of four or divided into two pairs—perfect for sharing the experience with friends, family, visiting guests, or as a special night out.

Blue Rider Stables' mission is grounded in connection, compassion, and mutual healing between humans and animals. The programs welcome children and adults of all ages and abilities. Whether someone comes to ride, to heal, to learn, or simply to be near the animals, they encounter a mindful space where growth is nurtured and every individual—two-legged or four-legged—is treated with dignity and care. Riding is taught ba****ck, focusing on balance, trust, and a deeper understanding of the horse and oneself.

Close Encounters With Music

Twenty-seven years ago, Close Encounters' artistic director and cellist Yehuda Hanani began presenting thematic concerts of chamber music with commentary—at the time a novel and innovative format that has since become ubiquitous in the concert hall. In addition to tours that have taken the series to cities such as Chicago, Cincinnati, Milwaukee, Omaha, Calgary, and Kansas City, Scottsdale, Fort Lauderdale and Miami, Close Encounters presents concerts each season in the Berkshires--most often at The Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center. To date, over 100 themes have been explored in the series' programs. Click here to see our 2018/2019 schedule.

Close Encounters With Music also produces the Berkshire High Peaks Festival: an international group of violinists, violists, cellists and pianists who converge for intensive instrumental study and chamber music coaching with distinguished faculty. At the base of Mount Everett, The Berkshire School’s 400-acre campus in Sheffield, Massachusetts offers a breathtaking setting and a destination for world renowned arts and culture in the heart of the Berkshire Hills. The Berkshire High Peaks Residency (formerly Catskill High Peaks Festival) has evolved into a training program designed to imbue players with new ideas and approaches, inspiration, and tools for technical advancement.
