Berkshire Community Radio sends our deepest sympathies to the friends and family of Ellen Spear.

Ellen joined the Berkshire Community Radio Board of Directors in 2024. In her short time in that capacity, her intelligence, focus and spirit had an outsized impact on our organization. Despite her sudden and unexpected passing, her inspiration and ideas will be a part of the WBCR-lp mission for years to come.

Advance notice for a very special Pastime with Good Company, this Friday, 1-3pm (rebroadcast Sunday 9-11am) on 97.7fm, berkshireradio.org. Joining me in the studio at about 1:30 will be recording producers Steve Epstein and Richard Einhorn.

Steve has worked with everyone from Barbra Streisand to Wynton Marsalis to Yo-Yo Ma, including Yo-Yo's ongoing "Beethoven for Three" cycle with Emanuel Ax and Leonidas Kavakos

As a producer, Richard has worked with Glenn Gould and Yo-Yo Ma among many others. As a composer, his score for Carl Dreyer's masterpiece "The Passion of Joan of Arc" was recorded by Anonymous 4 and his work "Maxwell's Demon #4" was made into the ballet "Red Angels" and has been performed by the New York City Ballet.
