Today, December 11, at approximately 6:18am, near Mile Marker 63 Hwy 191, the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Montana Highway Patrol in locating a subject who had been arrested but fled on foot.

A GCSO K9 unit and drones were used in an attempt to track and locate the subject. The subject was wanted for a non-violent misdemeanor and his identification was known by the Highway Patrol.

Due to dangerous terrain and weather conditions the search was called off at approximately 10:00 am. There will continue to be a law enforcement presence in the area.

The subject is not known to be armed or dangerous, however, we ask that citizens report any suspicious persons or activities in the area of Mile Marker 63 to Gallatin County Dispatch.

The event will be made up of our community first responders from BPD, BFD, YCSO, MHP, Laurel PD, MCS, and AMR. Fifty (50) children were referred and selected for this year from our community schools, and youth programs.
A Lights and Sirens procession of approximately 50 first responder vehicles from the agencies above will take place starting at the Metra around 9:00 AM and ending at Walmart at about 9:15 AM. The procession route follows: Metra; Bench; Main; 1st Ave N; Division; Montana; Laurel Rd; King Ave W; Walmart. Travelers should expect minor delays on the route during that time.
Each child will be given a $350 gift card to Walmart for Christmas gifts and once the shopping is done gifts will be wrapped and the kids will have time for snacks and treats.
The event is estimated to be over by 11:15 AM. Walmart will be open for normal business during this time.
Come on out along the parade route and cheer these kids on as we ring in the holiday season! 🎁 🎄.
See you there

We did all of this without spending a dollar on advertising. We did it because of you. The people who follow the page and want to see what common sense looks like. Yes, we say whatever we want and sometimes people don’t like it, but it has grown beyond our wildest imagination. All authentic and organic. That’s how we built it. Love this.

Thank you for an amazing 2025. 2026 will be even bigger and we can’t wait. Time to finish strong and get this bigger and better than ever before.

Once we decided that this was worth building, we simply went after it . Common sense news and opinions from people who love the United States, Montana, family and God. We will never please everyone, but that’s America baby!!! Let’s freaking go!!

Have a good night and get after it!!

From Montana Fish & Wildlife (Region 3):Hunter harvest rates in southwestern Montana were mixed during the general deer and elk hunting season, according to data gathered by FWP biologists. Mild weather during much of the general season made it challenging for hunters to find game at some lower elevations.

The general season was held over five weeks and six weekends from Oct. 25 through Nov. 30. During that time, FWP staff operated game check stations at various times and locations in Region 3, including stations in Alder, Cameron, Canyon Ferry, Divide, Gallatin Canyon, Lakeside and Silver City. Collectively, they met with 7,069 hunters who harvested 49 white-tailed deer, 174 mule deer and 355 elk.

Biologists use check stations to collect data on hunter participation and success, as well as the species, s*x and age class of the animals harvested. Check station data captures a portion of hunting activity on weekends in specific areas. Hunter numbers and harvest rates can be influenced by weather, changes in hunting regulations from one season to another, and other factors. Biologists also rely on information collected through hunter harvest phone surveys each year.
