FYI from Bozeman Police Department. Thank you Kyle for all your hard work, especially protecting kids! 👏

Meet Kyle Hodges, a Detective assigned to the Special Victims Unit! He has been a sworn officer for six years, and as a detective, he investigates felony child crimes specifically. In addition to that, he has trained officers in areas like patrol tactics, taser use, and emergency medical care. He is a member of the department’s Honor Guard, a ceremonial unit that represents the department at special events and funerals. He also assists with physical fitness testing for officers and is a team member who supports fellow officers who’ve experienced traumatic or high-stress events.

Kyle finds great satisfaction in working with families and victims through trying times and in helping them navigate the criminal justice system. This work is challenging on many levels, and we thank Kyle for the care, persistence, and commitment he displays every day.

There is nothing that drives me more than protecting children. A big part of helping them is rooting out all the evil people who are trying to hurt them. Thank you to FBI – Federal Bureau of Investigation and all those people who put there lives on the line each to protect kids.

Fatal Skydiving Incident at Lost Prairie Boogie

On Monday, August 4, 2025, at approximately 9:42 a.m., the Marion Fire Department—who were pre-staged at Meadow Peak Skydiving for the annual Lost Prairie Boogie—reported a mid-air collision involving two skydivers during a jump over the Lost Prairie area.

One of the skydivers was able to deploy their parachute and land safely without assistance. The second skydiver’s reserve parachute deployed automatically via an Automatic Activation Device (AAD). Both individuals were immediately attended to by on-site emergency personnel. Despite lifesaving efforts, the second skydiver was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other skydiver was evaluated and medically cleared on-site.

Marion Fire Department, ALERT, and the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident. The Flathead County Coroner’s Office is conducting an investigation alongside the Sheriff’s Office.

This incident occurred during the 58th Annual Lost Prairie Boogie and marks the 15th year Meadow Peak Skydiving has hosted the event.

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and skydiving community affected by this tragic loss.

The name of the deceased is being withheld pending further family notification.
