Some Dallas homeowners are angry at their neighbors for hating a massive light display that they put up every Christmas. In fact the city of Dallas has given them a citation for the extravagant light display and all the traffic it causes in their neighborhood. So now Ryan and Mandi De Vitis are doubling down and have filled their entire property with Grinch inflatables to go after their neighbors.

It's time for Nerd News, covering the most important news for your brain. Here's a quick rundown of this week in science . . .

In tooth news: Would going to the dentist be less scary if the sound of that DRILL wasn't so loud? A dentist in Hawaii thinks so, and she's working on a solution to make them quieter. The term for a fear of dentists is "odontophobia."

In health news: A study found that just smelling fatty foods while pregnant might up your child's risk of being overweight later in life. So, stay away from the donuts.

In space news: Russia can't send people to space for a while after their latest blastoff destroyed their only launchpad . . . and Blue Origin announced their next "tourism launch" will include the first person in a wheelchair to ever go to space.

In Mars news: Lightning has been found on Mars for the first time . . . and a study found time passes slightly faster on Mars than on Earth. The average is 477 MILLIONTHS of a second faster, but it depends on its orbit. Einstein predicted "time dilation" over a century ago. Basically, gravity bends time.

In booze news: A study at U.C. Berkeley found chimpanzees ingest way more alcohol from fermented fruit than we thought. It's like the equivalent of two beers a day

🐾 Meet Claus! 🐾
Claus is a 1–2 year old large mixed-breed with loads of energy, a sharp mind, and a big heart just waiting for the right person. He can be cautious with new people at first (“stranger danger” is real!), but with patience, positive introductions, and a few treats, he warms up quickly.

This smart, playful boy is looking for a committed home ready to invest in training, consistency, and building trust. In return, you’ll get a loyal adventure buddy who loves to learn and thrive with structure.

If you’re experienced, active, and excited about helping a young dog reach his full potential, Claus might be your guy. 💙

New Movies this weekend...

A new "Paranormal Activity" movie is in the works. Because apparently, Americans will never get tired of watching an empty kitchen for 10 minutes, just to see a cabinet door suddenly open by itself.

Spaceballs 2 has wrapped up filming and will be release sometime in 2027.

1. "Five Nights at Freddy's 2" (PG-13)
This movie takes place a year after the first film, where we learned that the animatronic mascots were all possessed by the souls of murdered children. In this one, we're introduced to a major antagonist from the video games called The Marionette after Josh Hutherson's little sister answers a call for help and attempts to reunite with her animatronic friends.

2. "Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair" (R)
Quentin Tarantino's extended cut merges Volumes 1 and 2, and adds another 25 minutes of material for a total runtime of nearly five hours. (281 minutes) The movie originally came out over 20 years ago, in 2003 and 2004.

It stars Uma Thurman as "The Bride", a woman seeking revenge for being attacked on her wedding day and losing her unborn child. Keith Carradine is Bill, Michael Madsen is his brother, and Bill's team of femme fatale assassins include Lucy Liu, Vivica A. Fox, and Daryl Hannah.

3. "100 Nights of Hero" (PG-13)
Maika Monroe's neglectful husband places a secret wager to test her fidelity, leaving her in the care of a dangerously seductive man for 100 nights. And it's up to her sharp-witted maid, Hero, to help her fend off his advances.

Hero is played by Emma Corin . . . who some of you may know as Princess Diana in "The Crown" or as Cassandra Nova in "Deadpool & Wolverine".

4. And now, some limited releases you may or may not care about:

--"Fackham Hall", a "Downton Abbey" spoof done in the comedic styles of "Airplane!" and Monty Python. It's about a guy who lands a job at an English manor, then gets framed for murder after he falls for the lady of the house.

--"Rosemead" starring Lucy Liu as a Chinese immigrant with a terminal illness, struggling with her son's worsening symptoms of schizophrenia.

--"Dust Bunny" starring Mads Mikkelsen as a hitman who reluctantly agrees to help a little girl kill the monster under the bed that ate her parents, while he himself is being targeted by assassins. Sigourney Weaver is also in it.

--"Frontier Crucible", a western about a group of outlaws who accidentally kill an Apache scout while leading a wagonload of medical supplies through Apache territory. The cast includes Thomas Jane and Armie Hammer

It's hard to believe, but the original "Wizard of Oz" was a FLOP when it first opened in theaters in 1939. It lost $1.1 million during its initial run.

Flash forward to 2025, and the movie is making $2 million A DAY at The Sphere in Las Vegas. But that's because people are paying between $119 for nosebleeds, and $377 for the front section.

To see a movie that's almost 90 years old. To be fair, we're talking a "4D experience with multi-sensory effects like shaking seats, high-velocity wind, atmospheric fog, fire effects, falling leaves, flying butterflies, and even falling fake apples and flying monkey props."

Still, are Americans that desperate to throw away their money, or has Las Vegas just gotten that good at separating us from it?

Have you heard the term "gray rocking" yet? It's when you avoid arguments by not engaging . . . and instead, act as boring as a "gray rock." Like if someone brings up politics, you say, "Interesting opinion. How's work?" The idea is to not give them the reaction or attention they're looking for.
