GAMEDAY: Cornhuskers has their opening game tonight against Cincinnati Bearcats at Arrowhead Stadium. It's going to be near perfect weather wise as partly cloudy skies and comfortable temperatures are expected. The same goes for the first Iowa State & Iowa game this Saturday. Good luck to the teams!

P.S. Boomer Sooners first game is on Saturday too!!

On this day 20 years ago, one of the worst hurricanes in history was about to bring catastrophic damage to the Gulf coast. Below is a satellite picture of Hurricane Katrina on August 28th, 2005, a day before it hit the Gulf coast.

It rapidly intensified from a Category 3 to a Category 5 hurricane in 12 hours reaching sustained winds of near 170 mph by August 28th. By the time it made landfall on August 29th, it rapidly weaken back to a Cat 3.

UPDATE (5:15 PM): The line of storms have started to move into the metro. Good news is the storms have weakened significantly as it moves into the metro. Latest data indicates the severe threat is decreasing significantly keeping the severe threat to the southwest near Seward, NE. Biggest threat looks to be flash flooding with heavy downpours.

Tracking a line of storms moving relatively fast to the southeast towards the metro. Storms looks to impact the metro in the next hour around 5 PM. More spotty storms may form behind the main line tonight through 10 PM.

Some storms may become severe with damaging winds reaching 60+ mph and quarter size hail. Tornado risk is very low.

Checked out the Greek Festival at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church. Some of you know, but I am a Greek Orthodox Christian so I was so excited to see the church. Breathtaking to say the least. I even got my baptism name “David” spelled in Greek. Definitely worth checking out. ☦️
