Today is a First Alert 6 Weather Day as strong winds and light snow will cause decrease visibility making travel difficult. The precipitation will start out as a wintry mix shortly after 7 AM then convert over to light snow by mid to late morning. Winds will also be strong from the northwest at the same time gusting up to 50 mph! All this will cause blowing snow creating low visibility. While the snow will be done by 2 PM, the wind will continue to be strong all day.

UPDATE: Sunday is still a FIRST ALERT 6 WEATHER DAY as light snow and strong winds will cause traveling difficult. Not much has changed in the forecast as snowfall potential is still up to an inch in the metro with slightly higher amounts northward. Northwest winds could now gust up to 50 mph!

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for multiple counties until 2 PM Sunday as well as a Wind Advisory until midnight Monday.

FIRST ALERT 6 WEATHER DAY: Sunday is going to be a mess to say the least! A strong cold front will impact the metro bringing snow, strong winds, and bitter cold wind chills.

Focusing on the snow, the best chance of snow will be Sunday morning through early afternoon. Potential snowfall isn't looking impressing as up to an inch is possible in the metro with higher amounts north of the metro.

The biggest threat will be the winds as gusts could reach up to 45 mph from the northwest. This will cause blowing snow which will decrease the visibility making driving difficult! On top of the winds, wind chills will fall to the single digits by late afternoon.

I’m back from vacation and the reason I was in Wisconsin… my sister graduated from the police academy! She’s officially a police officer in Wisconsin and I’m beyond proud of her accomplishment. She did say if she ever caught me speeding while storm chasing, she would arrest me. 🤣🔵⚫️

Throwback Thursday! Alright… I’m not one who posts old pictures of myself but this is warranted. I’m back in Illinois visiting family and I had to visit a close friend/mentor from college. First photo is from August 2014 during my first semester of meteorology school compared to now… 😳

His name is Anthony and I wouldn’t be where I am without him! He gave me the confidence to pursue this career considering my introverted personality… believe it or not. Be appreciative of lifelong friendships.

P.S. At least my wardrobe has improved after 11 years! 🤣🤣🤣
