ALERT: Friday and now Monday are First Alert 6 Weather Days due to the chance of severe storms during the evening hours.

Friday night's storms are still expected to form over northeastern Nebraska around 9 PM, but as those storms move towards the metro, one or two could have enough energy to impact the metro while we're sleeping.

Monday's storms are looking to be a similar setup to Friday where a front will come through during the evening hours. We will have a better timeline as we get closer to Monday.

Friday is a First Alert 6 Weather Day due to the chance of severe storms mainly after 9 PM through the overnight hours into early Saturday morning. Large hail, damaging winds, and a brief tornado are all possible.

Storms will develop over the areas highlighted in yellow shortly after 9 PM then move to the southeast. As the storms move to the southeast, they're likely to lose some steam. Storms should be gone before the Nebraska & Iowa games.

The heat won't be as intense as it was yesterday as highs will reach around 90° with peak heat index in the mid to upper 90s. There's a chance for spotty t-storms this afternoon into the evening hours, mainly after 2 PM. A few of these storms could be severe with damaging winds, quarter size hail, and localized flooding. The tornado risk is very low!

NOT everyone will see these storms! If you have outdoor plans this afternoon, keep an eye on the radar.

College football is FINALLY here!!! For the first Husker game of the season, it's going to be dangerously hot & humid with peak heat index up to 105°-108°. The Iowa & Iowa State games won't be as hot, but still feel like summer. If you're planning on attending any of these games, STAY HYDRATED!

Fun fact: the metro could tie the record high today at 100° set back in 1954!

As expected, spotty t-showers are impacting the viewing area this morning. The t-showers will wrap up by midday keeping the afternoon partly cloudy. Highs will be hot in the mid 90s with a peak heat index near the triple digits. Winds will still be breezy gusting up to 25-30 mph providing some relief from the heat.

Tonight will start out mostly clear, but cloud cover will increase after midnight as well as the rain potential. Spotty t-showers may form mainly after 3 AM through Sunday morning. NOT everyone will see the rain so you shouldn't have to cancel any outdoor plans. Anything that forms will dissipate by the afternoon. Highs will be hot in the upper 90s with heat index peaking near the triple digits.
