If your business is on Tiktok, it may not be there anymore after January 19th.

Here is Tiktok's latest statement on the issue, "The Supreme Court has an established historical record of protecting Americans' right to free speech, and we expect they will do just that on this important constitutional issue. Unfortunately, the TikTok ban was conceived and pushed through based upon inaccurate, flawed and hypothetical information, resulting in outright censorship of the American people. The TikTok ban, unless stopped, will silence the voices of over 170 million Americans here in the US and around the world on January 19th, 2025."

💭 My advice? Keep an eye on developments over the next few weeks. Download and back up content from the platform. Make sure your 2025 strategy is omnichannel to best serve your target audience.

Thought it was worth sharing some of the highlights from my presentation at the Wisconsin Marine Association this week. When it comes to using AI for content generation here are somethings we discussed as a group:
✨ The use cases and applications are endless from brainstorming to summarizing data and everything in between
✨ From a logo generation perspective (especially with tools like ) be sure you fully understand your licenses, copyright, & trademark capabilities before piloting your branding
✨ If you are concerned about legal implications, consult a lawyer
✨ Use & other tools to make your prompts the most effective
✨ If you don’t have an effective marketing strategy & aren’t doing effective marketing now — AI probably isn’t going to fix that

The social media space has been busy buzzing this week about Meta's new "subscription package", which is in beta testing now.

We all know the decline in branded organic content reach has been happening year after year.

Here is my take:
· Most likely this model will be here to stay in some capacity and expand beyond Meta once they see success
· Meta (like most companies) is focused on its bottom line
· Brand social has been pay-to-play for a long time, this will just be a different allocated spend for advertising budgets
· They will continue to try to roll out exclusive subscription packages for consumers as well

When it comes to social, we are at the mercy of third-party platforms controlled by megacorporations. This highlights the importance of marketing strategy. You own your email list, you control your website, & there is still nothing like getting people talking about you with positive word-of-mouth.

At the end of the day, my advice remains the same -- be strategic & focus on what's in your control.
