This week's storm path has moved a bit farther away from WI. While we will see snow, it will be less than expected, with 4"-6" for most of GB and the Fox Cities. Plenty of wind on Thursday night and Friday will make for challenging travel with blowing snow covering roads. The snow total graphic is from the National Weather Service in Green Bay.
The US model (GFS) and the European model (ECMWF) are not quite in agreement with the snow, so the confidence in snow amounts is not great. BUT... we will get snow in NE WI! Travel Thursday night into Friday will not be good. Here is the trick to reading the maps. Take what the models think is our "current snow cover" and subtract it from snow totals by the two models; that's how much snow they are predicting. We'll have a better idea of snow amounts tomorrow!
Black Friday took a lot out of my dog Joe.

We are Yukon and the Bumble, Happy Halloween everyone!
I saw this and it made me smile. I needed that.
A windy sunset.
Is this witch flying a broom, or did she have too much spicy food? I'll let you be the judge.
Again, this post will be old by 11pm Tuesday 9/27. Check for updates. Hurricane Ian's track is forecast to be a little farther south from earlier this afternoon with Landfall near Englewood, FL.
Showers at sunset.
Hi resolution video of Tropical Storm Fiona.
Looks like a bit warmer weather in our future.
[9/13/22] Here's a look ahead at the middle of September as well. Temperatures will remain above normal but a bit more precipitation could accompany the warmth at times over next weekend.
That's a big chunk of Ice!

On This Day...Just last year in 2021, a hailstorm swept through the Fox Valley & produced a 4.5 inch hailstone north of Appleton. This is the largest hailstone to fall so late in the season since 1950!

The flower explosion is just starting!
I've got some major buds growing (said in Jeff Spicoli surfer voice). Probably 30+ soon to be flowers from my hardy hibiscus plant. The plant itself is not much to look at, but the flowers are huge! I planted it last summer. It likes the sun and doesn't need much care. I'll post more when the flowers pop open.
Even my dog Joe enjoyed tonight's sunset.
Thank you for everyone that helped pick my Doug's Life WI Logo! The overwhelming winner was logo #3. I've added the quick description on what you can expect (Weather & Adventures), that was added thanks to many helpful comments. You all rock, thanks again! -Doug
The rain has hit a wall of dry air, watch it as it falls apart on radar. I still have some blue sky in Green Bay.
Rain is moving into the Fox Cities and eventually Green Bay.
As I'm sure you've heard we have the chance to see the Northern Lights tonight. Three things to know. First: the accuracy of predicting these is very low, weather forecasts are much more accurate(and you know Meteorologists occasionally get a forecast wrong). Second: we have the chance for some scattered storms tonight, so clouds could obscure your viewing. Third: Look north between 8pm and 2am. The prediction is for a G3 event. Look on the map I attached, and find the G3 line and from that line and areas to the north of the line the Aurora should be visible. If you see the Aurora share some pictures on my FB page. Thanks! -Doug
It will be a picture perfect day at the Wednesday Farmers Market in Green Bay. Sunny with light winds and 70 degree temperatures. Woot Woot!!!!
Hi friends, I'm working on my business logo and you get to help me choose which one to use. Send me a message and let me know 1,2,3, or 4. I'll let you know what everyone picked later this week. BTW, the logo will be smaller than you are seeing, I just wanted everyone to get a good look at them. Thanks for your help! -Doug
It's raining buckets in some areas this morning. Watch for flooded roads for the next few hours. 8-13-22
What a beautiful day! I've got the windows all open and the smell of garlic is pouring out of my house. It's the first time I've made Spaghetti Alla Puttanesca. I'm not a cook so this is an accomplishment for me. Look ma, no bottled sauce! 😀
😟 No Sweet Corn for me today as the fields were too wet to pick those wonderful butter and sugar ears. The National Weather Service by the Green Bay airport has had well over 2" of rain in the past two days. Good news for the farmers (and those who love fresh corn) is that dry weather will move in for the rest of the week. Temperatures will be in the comfortable 70s (except Wednesday when we will have 80s). I better go an stock up on more butter and corn holders for tomorrow! Cheers -Doug
My swim shorts decided to do some fishing. Found this guy stuck to my backside after a good day of beach and ocean fun. 😁
Severe Thunderstorms Watch until 2AM Wednesday for western and central WI. If storms hold together they could move into NE WI, keep your smartphone nearby overnight to get warning information.
Northern WI could see severe storms tonight. 8/2/22.
Looks like it won't be a beach day for me.
Nice Thunderstorm over the water. You can just see a little over shooting top of the storm on the middle right, bright white color.
Here is a summary of the severe weather that moved through the area on July 23. Some neat info on what we saw on radar and satellite, plus some info on a seiche that occurred on Lake Winnebago. Check it out!

Canadian high pressure brought a refreshing airmass across the area overnight thru this morning. Manitowish Waters took the honors with the lowest temperature of 43 degrees. It should be a very pleasant summer week upcoming up, as high temperatures should mainly stay in the 70s, with a few lower 80s mixed in at times.
And another round of storms will move in from MN overnight. Appleton, Oshkosh, and Fond du Lac will all see more rain, thunderstorms, and possibly severe weather.
Enjoy the clearing weather this evening. More thunderstorms could pop-up with heavy rainfall overnight (mostly south of Green Bay). Here is a picture I took from last night's sunset.
I'm streaming live as the storms move across NE WI! Click the YouTube link here---> https://youtu.be/kprpGz20z98
Meteorlogist Doug Higgins tracks storms live acorss NE WI. 7-23-22
While Green Bay will see Rain and T-Storms, the severe threat (damaging winds, hail, and a few twisters) is greatest from Oshkosh south this evening. Here is a look at the radar.
Here is the 2:02 pm radar. Plenty of rain and thunderstorms moving into NE WI this evening (5-6pm). Severe storms moving into SW WI.
Sorry, FB keeps cutting off time on the computer model. Try #3. Here is the latest on Severe Storms today (7-23-22). Timing looks good, early evening (between 5-7p). The main line of storms is forecast a bit farther south than yesterday, but Green Bay and the Fox Cities are all under the gun. Here is what the Storm Prediction Center says... "Damaging thunderstorm gusts (some over 75 mph), a few tornadoes and large to very large hail will be possible today across parts of the Upper Midwest and southern Great Lakes regions."
Storms to keep an eye on today (Tuesday)are dropping south out of Canada and into Northern MN. Storms will move east and hit NW WI and the eastern part of the U.P. There is large uncertainty if they will hold together and hit NE WI, but we are still under a slight risk for severe weather. With the models not showing much rain, I can't give a best time for rain besides 5pm-1am.
