Religious sisters from five different orders across the Diocese of Green Bay gathered for the annual Mass of the Jubilee of the Diocesan Sisters at St. Bernard Parish, Green Bay, on Sunday, August 24, 2025.

Twenty-two sisters from five different orders within the Diocese of Green Bay celebrate significant anniversaries of their religious vocation this year, with jubilees marking 50, 60, 70 and 75 years.

We are sad to announce the passing of Sr. Mary Jean Gauthier, age 96, who died on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Grancare Health Care Facility in Green Bay.

Sr. Mary Jean was a Sister of St. Francis of the Holy Cross in Bay Settlement and celebrated her 70th Jubilee in last year.

Visitation for Sr. Mary Jean took place from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 21, at Holy Cross Parish, 3009 Bay Settlement Road, Green Bay. The funeral Mass was at 10:30 a.m. and was followed by burial in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Pope Leo XIV has designated today, August 22, 2025, as a day of fasting and prayer for peace and justice in Ukraine and the Holy Land.

On the Feast of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we ask for her intercession as we pray for peace in our world and remember that she is the Mother of the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ.

We are sad to announce the passing of Fr. William Kuhr, 84. Known for his joy-filled vocation, Fr. Kuhr died on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at St. Paul Elder Care in Kaukauna.

Visitation will be held at St. Margaret Mary Parish, 620 Division Street, Neenah, on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a concluding prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will then continue at the church on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral Mass.

The funeral Mass will be at St. Margaret Mary, Neenah, at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop David Ricken as celebrant and Fr. Timothy Shillcox, O. Praem as homilist. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. in St. Margaret Mary Cemetery, Neenah.

This rural parish in Cooperstown, Wisconsin, has been through a lightning strike to its 44-foot long steeple, a tornado less than a year later and a fire that destroyed the church building — but this prayerful and dedicated congregation has been all the more strengthened by their pastoral community.

St. James Parish, which began in 1850, celebrated their 175th anniversary this past Sunday with Mass, historic displays, a prayer booklet curated by the parishioners and more.
