Resurrection Parish in Green Bay is putting Pope Franics' encyclical Laudato Si' into practice by growing a "loving awareness" of the home we share. 🤗🌎

This fall, during the Church's Season of Creation, the Care for Creation Committee (CFC) is bringing that call to life in their own corner of God's creation.

"I think about everything we have here on earth, the water we use and the little bit of land that we manage, and I think, ‘What can we do that would contribute to God’s creation,” says parishioner Nancy Mathias, who leads CFC.

What began with an open heart in 1964 has grown into a lasting mission. 🫶

Athea Valentyn founded Valley Area Special Needs Religious Education (VASNRE) so people of all ages with disabilities can receive faith formation that meets each person where they are.

“Our students are in our parishes, whether you see them or not," says religious coordinator Gretchen Ortner. "They are also children of God who deserve to know that they are children of God, and that they’re loved. Many of them didn’t hear that a lot growing up."

Stained glass does more than beautify our churches. Color, design, and light become a visible reminder of what we believe and of God's glory. ✝️🕊️

These stained glass windows were photographed by Joan Bartman. She has created a four-volume picture book series detailing the stories behind the windows of the Catholic churches she grew up attending.

Story windows tell of the people and events that are part of our Catholic faith. Symbol windows focus on iconic imagery to teach about our beliefs.

✝ The first story window is one of eight on the life of St. Paul from the former St. Paul Church in Wrightstown. It shows Acts 9:1-6, when Jesus appears to Saul.

✝ A symbol window from St. Therese Church in Appleton represents Christ the King, celebrated on the last Sunday before Advent.

✝ This symbol window from St. Margaret Mary Church in Neenah depicts the Seven Sorrows of Mary, with seven swords and an image for each sorrow.

✝ The last two windows from St. Joseph Church in Appleton remind us of our belief that with the words of consecration, the bread and w**e become the Body and Blood of Christ.

🙏 May these stained glass windows increase our understanding and deepen our love for the Catholic faith!
