We are sad to announce the passing of Reverend David Barrett, who entered eternal life on June 16, 2026, at the age of 87.

Ordained to the priesthood in 1964, Father Barrett faithfully served the people of the Diocese of Green Bay for more than five decades. His ministry touched countless lives through his pastoral service in parishes across northeast Wisconsin, as a hospital chaplain, and through his dedicated work with the Menominee community at St. Michael Parish in Keshena.

Please join us in praying for the repose of Father Barrett's soul and in giving thanks for his life of faithful service to Christ and His Church.

The Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 24, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Parish in Shawano.

May he rest in the peace of Christ.

In his magazine column, Bishop Ricken reflected on taking trips and fueling for the journey.

"Through our Baptism and Confirmation, every single Catholic (and Christian) is called to a deep personal relationship with Jesus Christ and to share him with others. But sometimes we try to undertake this journey without the โ€œfuelโ€ we need to make it happen. What is the fuel needed to foster an intimate relationship with Jesus and to have the power to go out and share him with others? Canโ€™t I just do these things on my own?"

Fr. Carr's Place 2B held the fourth annual Carnival for Kids! ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽˆ๐Ÿช…

The carnival included carnival rides, obstacle courses, climbing walls, face painting, games and food.

โ€œSome families may never see Disney World or Great America,โ€ said Jim Boehm, executive director of Fr. Carr's Place 2B. โ€œBut they still deserve to have fun. They deserve to ride a Ferris wheel, climb a climbing wall, get their face painted and just enjoy being a family together.โ€

Alexa and Danny Kesler met each other back in 2016.

โ€œWhen we met, he (Danny) made it very clear his faith was a core value of his and his family,โ€ Alexa said. โ€œSoon after we began dating, I attended my first Mass with him.โ€

The couple has since been married for almost five years, and in the midst of different health issues and infertility struggles, faith has always been an essential part of their relationship.

In 2019, after Alexa and Danny had gotten engaged, she was diagnosed with polycystic o***y syndrome (PCOS).

Amidst the difficulties, Alexa began turning to Our Lady of Champion and even the annual Walk to Mary pilgrimage.

โ€œ(I realized) God was showing up, and working in our lives,โ€ she said. โ€œBut it was all through the Church, and thatโ€™s where it solidified that this was the right route to go.โ€

As Fr. Girotti reflects on the asylum and the advancements of psychology and modern medicine, he shares that there is still a stigma around mental health.

"That troubling image from a walk with my father on a summer evening many years ago reminds me that we have a long way to go."
