Spotlight on GATe

In the upcoming winter session, we will partner with GATe (Greenbelt Access Television Channel) on three exciting classes!

Digital Animation - Tuesdays, 1/13-3/3, 5-7pm
For kids ages 11 and up; learn basic skills to create an original character and background on the Mac or your own device.

Smart Phone Filmmaking - Sundays, 2/8-2/22, 2 - 3:30 pm or Mondays, 2/9-3/2, 6:30 - 8 pm
For ages 16+; will teach skills like smart phone camera usage, shot composition, adjusting camera / audio level settings, stabilization, and editing footage to tell a visually compelling story.

Digital Filmmaking - Thursdays, 1/8-2/26, 6 - 8 pm
Also for ages 16+; each student will create their own unique short film by the end of the class, while learning the basics.

🚀📸✨ Big creativity. Fast learners. Major skills unlocked!

Greenbelt Access Television Channel teamed up with the Greenbelt Recreation and Girl Scouts for an action-packed class diving into and editing — and WOW did they deliver!!!

From designing in and organizing projects in , to getting hands-on with for the very first time, these scouts jumped in fearlessly. They worked fast, learned even faster, and turned new tools into creative powerhouses in no time.

The energy was high, the ideas were flowing, and the skills gained will last far beyond the classroom. We’re so proud of what they accomplished. This might be a little 90's... but "You Go Girls"! 🎨💻🌟

Santa came in HOT! 🔥🚒🎅

Greenbelt’s 2025 Tree Lighting Ceremony lit up the night—literally and figuratively! The community gathered in Roosevelt Center to kick off the holiday season with glowing lights, joyful music, and a little extra magic.

The highlight of the night? Santa making his grand entrance on the back of a fire truck, sirens wailing and kids cheering as he rolled in to greet families and spread holiday cheer. 🎄✨

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate this hometown tradition with us. Nights like these remind us why Greenbelt’s spirit shines so bright all year long. ❤️
