The Greenbelt Black History & Culture Committee invites you to a short series of wonderful and enlightening events in honor of Emancipation Day (November 1st).

First up: Saturday, November 1st from 2pm to 4pm in the Greenbelt Community Center - a poetry reading by 2025 Youth Poet Laureate of Prince George's County, Kaylee Joge, as well as a a gospel concert featuring the Prince George's Choral Society!

Next: Saturday, November 8th from 9am to 12pm in the Greenbelt Library parking lot - the Sankofa Mobile Museum; sharing pivotal Black history moments in Prince George's County. This program is recommended for ages 10 and up.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM). In this very special interview, special guest interviewer Doll sits down with Dr. Mildred Muhammad, renowned domestic violence awareness advocate.
Dr. Muhammad tells her side of the story of her marriage with (and separation from) the D.C. sniper, John Allen Muhammad, applying her lived traumatic experience from this relationship to become a lifelong advocate of domestic violence awareness. In this interview, Dr. Muhammad answers some crucial questions: What are some of the signs of domestic abuse? How can you effectively and meaningfully help someone in an abusive relationship? And what steps do you take to safely leave?
