TEA has once again planned a dynamic professional learning experience with timely and relevant sessions for our 28th Annual Teaching & Learning Symposium. This year’s theme — Empowering Educators. Elevating Practice. Engaging Possibility. — captures our commitment to supporting Tennessee educators at every stage of their careers.

Attendees will explore focus areas including artificial intelligence in education, classroom management, educator branding, school culture and climate, family engagement, computer science integration, legislative and policy updates, and more. Sessions are interactive, solution-oriented, and designed to offer practical strategies that educators can apply immediately in their classrooms and schools.

In addition to outstanding professional development, participants may earn up to five hours of professional development or TASL credit depending on the number of sessions attended. The Symposium also features opportunities for networking and celebration, including the Gala honoring TEA’s Distinguished Educators.

Join colleagues from across Tennessee for two days of collaboration, innovation, and inspiration as we strengthen the profession and create brighter possibilities for our students.

You have until Sunday, September 21st to let your voices be heard. Check your school email for the link. Let's keep our insurance, stipends, bereavement, negotiations for salary, and so much more! You do not have to be a member to sign!

RCEA would like to send our condolences to the educators and students of our Greenbrier Cluster. Losing someone is never easy, but you have lost two students close together. Please remember educators that TEA has the Member Assistance Program available for counseling and to support you through these challenging days. We are here to support you and our hearts are with you.

Our deadline to sign the PECCA Petition is September 21st.

I am calling all CLASSIFIED personnel to ask all CERTIFIED personnel to sign the petition.

You currently pay approximately $300 a month for health, dental and vision per month. This could potentially increase to $1100 if we do not keep our negotiated MOU.

Check your school email and sign.

RCS Teachers,
We have two more weeks to collect PECCA Petition Signatures. EVERY teacher paid a stipend should be signing. This means EVERY coach! EVERY teacher who takes out the insurance, should be signing. You run the risk of having to pay approximately $1100 a month instead of $200 a month for coverage. If you have ever taken bereavement pay for losing a loved one, you should sign. That was negotiated in the MOU for you. We have to collect signatures usually every three years. Some of you may not be aware of this. If we do not get the signatures, all of our negotiated items go away. You MUST SIGN for us to have the opportunity to keep these benefits. This is the time to advocate for YOURSELF and your colleagues. Please do not be like our neighbors to the east of us who lost their MOU and now have no voice in making their schools better. We have never lost our MOU in the past, don't be the cause of that happening now.

I lost my presidency in April by 12 votes. Don't be part of the 12 that would cause us to lose our MOU!

Thank You,
Interim President Amos

Executive Director Gibson IS TEA from his student days through his teacher days and continues as one of our fearless leaders today . His words here are powerful. RCEA is grateful for his leadership and commitment to public education!

TEA Executive Director Terrance J. Gibson: A new school year brings fresh faces, new possibilities, and renewed purpose. But let’s be honest: it also brings obstacles. There will be days when the political noise is loud, budgets are tight, and your energy is running low. On those days, I hope you remember the words of Edgar Guest in his timeless poem “Don’t Quit”: “When care is pressing you down a bit /Rest if you must—but don’t you quit.”

Because your presence matters. To your students. To your school. To our shared future.

At TEA, we don’t just honor your work; we walk beside you in it. We are the only organization that follows you wherever you go: across classrooms, campuses, and career changes. We are your armor when rights are at risk, your community when support is needed, and your advocate at every level of decision-making.

This year, let’s build on our strength:

* Welcome new colleagues and invite them into TEA.
* Connect with local leaders to bring professional learning to your school.
* Stay informed—and speak up for what’s right.
* Celebrate your impact, because your work builds Tennessee’s future every day.

You are not alone in this. Our collective strength keeps public education not just alive but thriving.

As you step into this school year, know that TEA sees your sacrifice, honors your commitment, and shares your belief in public education. We’ve got your back—today, tomorrow, and always.

So, let’s teach boldly, advocate fiercely, and lead with purpose. And when it gets hard, rest if you must, but don’t you quit.

RCEA needs all teachers to sign the petition link that you received via email! We could lose everything in our Memorandum of Understanding if we do not have enough signatures to move forward. You do not have to be a member to sign. We need to keep our 90/10 insurance plan. The state law is that 45 percent is to be paid, not 90. We need to keep all of the stipends that are paid and negotiated on as well as our bereavement days.

This video explains the basics of the MOU. Please check your email and sign today! We must keep our benefits!

If you have ever been asked to sign a PECCA Petition and wondered what a Memorandum of Understanding was, this video is for you!
