The Smoke & The Pour: Tuesday Night Edition

Avión ’13 Corojo by Tatuaje. It’s a double perfecto
Nicaraguan puro with a sharper edge than the broadleaf original. Pepper, earth, and structure that demands attention.

Paired with Baker’s 107 by Jean Beam. Nutty oak, baking spice, and just enough proof to keep things honest. 107 proof and 8 years/6 months old.

Taking the evening to celebrate where I am in life, and respecting the work it took to get here.

Slow smoke. One pour. Clear head.

Cheers! 💨 🔥 🥃

Late Night. Let’s do it. Soaking up every minute of this weekend.

The Smoke: Tatuaje Cojonú 2021. Ecuadorian Habano wrapper around Nicaraguan binder and fillers. 7x58 Gran Belicoso.

The Pour: Old Forester Single Barrel from Pour Vous. It’s 130.4 Proof and was snagged from Warehouse I, Floor 7.

Late-night, full-throttle pairing tonight.
This Cojonú comes in hot with classic Pepín pepper, heavy spice, and deep Nicaraguan earth. The OF Single Barrel answers with cinnamon heat, brown sugar, and toasted oak flying right down the middle at 130+ proof.

Zero softness. Zero hesitation. Just a big, unapologetic collision of flavor to close out the night.

Cheers!

Saturday night, and it’s time to say goodbye to this bottle. 🥃

The Smoke: Liga Privada No. 9 from Drew Estate. It has a Connecticut Broadleaf and Oscuro wrapper, Brazilian binder around Honduran and Nicaraguan fillers. Full-bodied, oily, toothy, and bold.

The Pour: Elijah Craig Barrel Proof B524. This batch is 11 Years 2 Months old and 130.6 Proof. 78% Corn, 12% Malted Barley, 10% Rye. Not the best of the batches, but it’s a very solid pour for the price. Sad to see it go.

The Liga No. 9 brings dense chocolate, espresso, and oily, full-bodied smoke that sinks right into the bourbon’s sweetness. The B524 opens with dark caramel, charred oak, and warm baking spice, all wrapped in that classic ECBP heat.

Deep, heavy, and slow-burning. It’s exactly the kind of combo you save for the weekend.

Cheers!

It’s cold outside, but warm in here.

The Smoke: Micallef Red Toro. It has a San Andrés Habano wrapper, Nicaraguan Grown Pennsylvania Broadleaf binder, around a Nicaraguan & Mexican filler.

The Pour: Middle West Bourbon Cask Strength. Batch 01 comes in at 122.2 proof. The nose opens with caramel, toffee, and smoked butterscotch. On the palate you get rich butterscotch, worn leather, and a touch of light oak and smoke. The finish is medium in length, carrying smoked spice and a warm, lingering sweetness.

Full-bodied, straight-ahead flavor tonight.

Exactly the kind of pairing a Friday night deserves.

Cheers! 💨 🔥 🥃

Turkey Turkey Turkey 🦃

It’s the trifecta on Turkey Day!

The Smoke: Privada LCA Turducken 2025 Gran Toro. It has rich chocolate, maple sweetness, roasted nuts, and warm holiday spice. Thick smoke, bold body, and built for cold-weather smoking.

The Pour: Wild Turkey Rare Breed Rye. It’s 112.2 proof of caramel, orange zest, cinnamon, and toasted oak that slices cleanly through the cigar’s dense sweetness.

The Pairing: Sweet, spicy, and loud. Rare Breed brings the heat while the Turducken delivers that sweet and savory depth. It’s the perfect Thanksgiving pairing.

Happy Thanksgiving 🦃

Sitting down on the eve of Thanksgiving in the garage.

The Smoke: Patina Oro De Nicaragua (Toro). Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapper, Ecuadorian Sumatra binder, with Nicaragua and Connecticut Broadleaf filler. This stick has some notes of creamy espresso , sweet earthiness, and just right amount of subtle pepper. It is Medium-plus strength. Blended by Mo Maali and crafted at the NACSA factory in Nicaragua.

The Pour: Old Overholt 12 Year Rye. This year’s newest release from Jim Beam comes in at 117 proof, with an undisclosed mashbill. There are notes of butterscotch, caramel, dark fruit, toasted oak, and a little barrel char. A very smooth 12-year finish. Likes the 11 year, and loving the 12 year. Grab this one if you can!

The Pairing: Balanced, rich, and clean. The Patina’s espresso and earth pull out the Overholt’s caramel sweetness, while the rye spice tightens up the finish.

What are you drinking or smoking?

It’s Monday again…

The Smoke: CAO Flathead V660. Love the motor oil smoke output, dark chocolate, espresso, and a molasses heavy core. Built for barrel strength bourbon and nights when you want something that stands its ground.

The Pour: Wyoming Whiskey Private Stock (Colonial/Melrose Pick). It’s 124.8 proof. I get some caramel sweetness, toasted oak, and some warm spice, Hits with heat but delivers a long, sweet finish.

The caramel + char from the Wyoming wraps perfectly around the V660’s dense, chewy maduro profile. Nothing gets lost. Nothing fights. Just a heavy, bold pairing that smokes like a freight train and drinks like dessert with a backbone.

Happy Monday!

Empress Sheba x Peerless Double Oak
Last calm night before the chaos. The next few weeks will be crazy for anyone supporting retail and online for Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday.

The Smoke – Empress Sheba by El Septimo: It’s a full-bodied, exotic powerhouse. Spice forward with incense, dark cocoa, and a floral kick that hits like a warm breeze. Dense smoke, long legs, and a finish that refuses to leave quietly. This isn’t a background cigar. It demands your attention from the first light up.

The Pour – Peerless Double Oak Bourbon: 108.6 proof. Thick caramel, toasted barrel char, cinnamon heat, and a sticky-sweet vanilla core.
Double oaked richness that hits bold without burning out the palate. It’s the kind of pour that reminds you bourbon can be both dessert and backbone at the same time.

Cheers!

Trying something a little different while waiting on these TN Vols 🍊 to play the 🐊.

The Smoke: Deadwood Tobacco’s Fat Bottom Betty from Drew Estate. Brazilian and Maduro wrapper around a Nicaraguan binder and filler. This is an aromatic line of ci**rs that offer up an intense flavor profile that is naturally sweet and a very pleasant room note. I didn’t ever think I would pick this up, but I am really impressed. It’s the perfect amount of sweetness wrapped around a medium plus cigar. Definitely going to grab another one.

The Pour: Green River Rye. 95 proof, aged 4-6 years with a 95/5 mashbill. This is the perfect balance of spice to cut through the sweetness of the cigar.

What is in your glass? What are you smoking?

Friday Night. New Smoke. New Pour

The Smoke: Viva La Vida Club 500 by AJ Fernandez. It’s a 6x60 Nicaraguan puro that carries a Habano Colorado maduro wrapper hugging a Corojo 98 binder and a filler stuffed with Criollo 98 leaves.

The Pour: Jack Daniel’s | Single Barrel | Heritage Barrel | Tennessee Whiskey. It’s aged at least 7 years in some of the highest elevation toasted barrels that JD has and bottled at 100 proof. Toasted oak, caramel drizzle, warm vanilla, and that softened Tennessee banana note lurking in the background. Rich, sweet, and way more layered than people expect.

What’s in your glass? What are you smoking?

Cheers!
