Here’s my secret step-by-step guide on how to develop and use linkable assets to improve your SEO:

1️⃣ Identify Opportunities

Competitor Analysis:

Check out the competition: Use a tool like Ahrefs to see what kind of content is getting a lot of links in your industry. You can even look at big brands for ideas.

Search on Google: Do a broad search on Google related to your niche (e.g., "best accounting software") and see which websites show up at the top. These are usually authorities in your field.

Dig deeper with Ahrefs: Take the URL of a competitor or a big player and plug it into Ahrefs' Site Explorer. Then, check the "Best by links" section. This shows you their most popular pages, which are attracting lots of backlinks.

2️⃣ Generate Ideas

Brainstorm Topics:

Based on your competitor research, note the types of content that have garnered significant backlinks.

Identify gaps in what your competitors offer and think about how you can create something better or more comprehensive.

3️⃣ Create the Asset

Quality is key: Make sure your content is top-notch, informative, and actually useful to people.

Guides and Research: Cover your topic thoroughly, including expert opinions, case studies, or original research to make it stand out.

Infographics: Keep the design clean and eye-catching, but ensure your data is solid and accurate.

Tools and Videos: Make sure your tools are easy to use, and your videos are professionally produced. People are more likely to share content that looks good and works well.

4️⃣ Optimize for SEO

Titles and Descriptions: Craft clear, descriptive titles and meta descriptions that include your main keywords.

Content Structure: Organize your content with easy-to-read headings and subheadings.

Image and Video Optimization: Don't forget about your visuals! Add alt tags and descriptions to your images and videos to make them search-engine friendly.

5️⃣ Promote Your Asset

Create a list of websites, blogs, and influencers who might be interested in your asset. Look for sites that linked to similar content.

Craft personalized outreach emails that highlight the value of your asset and why it might interest them.

Use social media, forums, and other platforms to share your content widely.

6️⃣ Track and Measure

Use tools like Google Analytics and Ahrefs to monitor the traffic and backlinks your asset generates.

Adjust your strategy based on what content performs best and what types of sites are most responsive to your outreach.

Using WordPress? Here's how I improve site speed:

1️⃣ Install a Speed Optimization Plugin

Using a plugin is one of the easiest ways to boost your site speed on WordPress. These are my top 3.

WP Rocket

NitroPack

W3 Total Cache

2️⃣ Audit the Hosting

Your website's hosting provider has a big impact on how fast it runs.

My top 3.

SiteGround Web Hosting Company: Known for excellent performance and support, especially with their managed WordPress hosting.

WP Engine: A good choice for WordPress hosting, providing great performance and security.

Namecheap: Offers affordable hosting with solid performance for smaller websites.

4️⃣ Use a CDN (Content Delivery Network)

Why Use a CDN: Think of a CDN as a network of shortcuts for your website's traffic. It makes sure visitors get your content from the nearest server, speeding up load times.

My 2 choices

Cloudflare: Offers a free plan that is very effective for many sites, providing speed improvements and security.

Fastly: Known for high performance and being used by big, high-traffic sites.

5️⃣ Optimize Images

Optimizing images is key to reducing their impact on site speed, here's what to do:

Resize Images

Compress Images

Convert Images to WebP- WebP images are smaller in size compared to PNGs and JPEGs.

Optimize Background Image

6️⃣ Optimize Videos

Video content can dramatically affect page load times:

Compress Videos

Consider External Hosting

Technical Audits can be boring, but it's a must-do for SEO.

Here's a simple guide that I use when deciding whether to keep, delete, improve, or combine content pages:

➡ Newly Published Content with No Positive Metrics

Action: Leave As Is

Patience is Key: New content needs time to find its audience. Don't get discouraged if you don't see huge results right away.

Monitor Performance: Track how your content performs over the next few weeks or months through Google Analytics. While you wait, actively promote it on social media, in your newsletters, and in other relevant places.

➡ Old, Poorly-Written, Low-Quality, Thin, Off-Topic, Unoriginal, Inaccurate, Not Serving Any Purpose, or Stolen

Action: Delete (404 or 410)

Remove to Improve: Deleting outdated or thin content improves your website's health. This helps you rank better and creates a smoother experience for your visitors.

Use 404 or 410: Choose a 404 code to let visitors (and search engines) know the page is temporarily unavailable. Use a 410 code to signal it's been permanently removed.

➡ Decent Content, But No Positive Metrics

Action: Upgrade or Consolidate

Improve Quality: Do you have some content that could use a boost? Freshen it up with updated info and eye-catching images and make it easier to read. Your visitors (and search engines) will thank you!

Consolidate Similar Content: Instead of having multiple similar pages, combine them into one stronger piece! This makes your content more focused and helpful for visitors and search engines.

➡ A Group of Thin Pages All Around the Same Topic

Action: Consolidation

Combine for strength and redirect correctly: Combine weaker pages into one page for better search results. Just remember to redirect the old pages to the new ones so you don't lose visitors or ranking power.

Regularly review your content and make updates based on what you find. This simple process can dramatically improve your website's quality and performance. I hope this helps 😀 !!

Did you know that 20% of keywords are completely unknown and new to Google. Hell, most people only use keyword tools for keyword research.

Here are my 5 favorite places that I go to discover new keyword opportunities.

Exploding Topics

Usage: Start by searching for a broad keyword related to your industry on Exploding Topics. This tool helps identify trending topics before they become mainstream.

Google Trends

Usage: Use Google Trends to explore "Related Topics" and "Related Queries" sections for any given search term. This uncovers new keyword opportunities into what people are currently interested in or what might become popular.

Quora

Usage: Use Quora to discover what people are asking about your industry and topic. Using Quora can help you better understand user insights. Quora can even help you understand the language and concerns of your target audience.

Reddit, Inc.

Usage: With all the subreddits there's literally endless ideas for new keywords. By participating in or observing discussions in these subreddits, you can discover questions and topics that are popular among these communities.

X

Usage: On X, track conversations and hashtags relevant to your field. X's fast-paced user engagement you can see new ideas gaining momentum in real-time. And having a platform that supports free speech is a plus.

I hope this helps with a different approach to unknown keywords.

Search engines do not like anchor text that feels like spam. If yours leans that way, it can hurt your website's ranking. Here's a simple plan to get things back on track.

Identify Over-Optimized Anchor Text

Begin by doing an audit of your website’s backlinks and anchor texts using SEO tools like Ahrefs. This tool can help you identify pages where a high percentage of incoming links use keyword-rich or exact-match anchor text. Focus on those over 1% for exact matches and 10% for keyword-rich variations.

Analyze the Quality of Linked Pages

Check the quality of the pages and sites linking you with over-optimized anchor text. Look for links from low-quality or irrelevant sites, as these likely negatively affect your SEO.

I hope this helps 😀 !!

Branded searches are great for brand recognition and loyalty.

Importance of Branded Searches

Brand Recognition: Branded searches mean that people know your brand and specifically look for it, which is an effective advantage in search engines. It shows that your marketing efforts to build brand awareness are paying off.

Trust and Credibility: Customers searching for your brand typically indicate trust and credibility. They're not only looking for any service or product; they want what your brand offers.

Safeguard Against Keyword Volatility: Branded searches help your traffic against changes in generic keyword rankings. Meanwhile, non-branded keyword positions can vary due to algorithm updates.

Build your BRAND!!! 😀

Here are the tools I recommend for a thorough SEO audit, along with a brief explanation of how each can be used effectively:

Screaming Frog

Usage: Screaming Frog is a desktop program that crawls website URLs to collect data and audit SEO issues. It's useful for pinpointing problems like broken links, redirect chains, duplicate content, and missing tags.

Google Analytics 4 (GA4)

Usage: Use GA4 to analyze traffic sources, user engagement, and the effectiveness of your SEO strategies. It’s important to understand how users interact with your site post-click.

Google Search Console

Usage: This tool is important for monitoring your site’s performance in Google search. It provides insights into the search queries that bring users to your site, the health of your site (such as indexing status and crawl errors), and issues with usability on mobile devices.

Google PageSpeed Insights API

Usage: This tool analyzes a webpage's content and generates suggestions for speeding up the page. It evaluates both mobile and desktop versions for performance optimizations.

Ahrefs API

Usage: The Ahrefs API provides access to SEO data from the Ahrefs database, such as backlinks, keyword rankings, and SERP data. It is useful for tracking your site’s backlink profile and understanding your ranking compared to competitors.

Siteliner

Usage: Siteliner is a web service that helps you identify duplicate content, broken links, and redirects within your site. It also reports your site’s average page size and load time.

I hope this helps when you guys audit websites for technical issues 😀 !

When I write SEO content, I emphasize the need for distinctiveness and brevity. Here’s a detailed look at how I use these principles:

Different is Always Better:

Implementation: To make sure that your content is different. It's important to conduct thorough research to understand what currently exists in your niche. Identify gaps in existing content and seek to fill them with insights, data, or perspectives that haven't been extensively covered. This might involve:

> Utilizing original research or data that provides new insights into common topics.

> Incorporating case studies or real-life examples that add depth and practical insights.

> Use a unique content format, such as interactive tools, infographics, or engaging visuals, to differentiate your content from typical text-based articles.

Practice Brevity:

Implementation: Brevity in content creation means being concise and to the point. Here’s how you can ensure your content remains brief:

> Plan your content structure carefully before writing. Use an outline that prioritizes key points, making sure that each section of your content has a clear purpose and directly contributes to the overall topic.

> Edit rigorously after writing. This includes cutting repeating phrases, avoiding filler words, and removing sections that do not directly contribute to the reader's understanding or engagement.

> Focus on actionable content that readers can apply. This approach naturally cuts down on fluff, as the emphasis is on practicality and clarity.

I hope this helps your content creation.

Setting up a sitemap is an important step in helping search engines better crawl and understand the structure of your website. Here’s how to go about it:

If You're Using WordPress:

Install an SEO Plugin: Plugins like Yoast SEO or All in One SEO are great for automatically generating and updating sitemaps. Here’s how to use them:

Install Yoast SEO: Navigate to your WordPress dashboard, go to 'Plugins', click 'Add New', and search for 'Yoast SEO'. Install and activate the plugin. Once activated, Yoast automatically creates a sitemap for you. You can find your sitemap at https://lnkd.in/eFHjBHMC. xml. The same concept applies to the All in One SEO (AIOSEO) plugin.

If You're Using a Different CMS:

Use an Online Sitemap Generator: For non-WordPress sites, you can use tools like the one available at SEOptimer's Sitemap Generator(https://www.seoptimer. com/sitemap-generator). Here’s how:

1. Access the Tool: Go to the provided link.

2. Enter Your Website URL: Type in your site’s URL and start the generation process.

3. Download the Sitemap: Once the tool has crawled your site and created the sitemap, download the .xml file.

After Creating Your Sitemap:

Submit Your Sitemap to Search Engines:

Google Search Console: Log in to your Google Search Console account. Select 'Sitemaps' from the menu. Enter the URL of your sitemap and click 'Submit.' This will help Google start crawling and indexing your site using the sitemap.

Pop-ups can be annoying on a website, so here are some tips that I execute when trying to balance their utility with user experience, which affects SEO performance:

Opt for Non-Intrusive Pop-Ups

Instead of choosing pop-ups that take over the entire screen, I select less disruptive formats, such as slide-ins or small banners at the top or bottom of the page.

Delay Pop-Up Timing

I set pop-ups to appear only after the visitor has had time to engage with the content, often on the second page they visit or after a certain amount of time spent on the site. This way, the pop-ups feel less intrusive and are more likely to be positively received.

Here’s a screenshot of the pop-up on mobile that's not done well. Then again, temu is a billion-dollar company, so they can get away with this, but if it's not done properly on a newer site, this could impact the bounce rate.

I am not a UX web design expert, but I know UX design is important to SEO. But here's my approach when looking at a page.

Step 1: Conduct User Research

Action: I'll start by going to my competitors' websites and analyzing how they approach user interface (UI) and user experience (UX). Also gather information on how users interact with your site with tools like microsoft clairty.

Step 2: Analyze Current Design and UX

Action: Review your current website design and UX for issues that could be affecting user satisfaction and SEO performance. Look for common mistakes such as slow loading times and clear call-to-actions (CTAs).

Step 3: Prioritize Mobile-First Design

Action: Make sure your design prioritizes mobile users, given Google's mobile-first indexing.

Step 4: Simplify Navigation

Action: Design your site's navigation to be straightforward. If your site is an e-commerce site, use breadcrumbs in your navigation.

Step 5: Improve Page Load Speed

Action: I used to overlook this step. Now, I run every page through Google's PageSpeed Insights. Fast loading times are crucial for good UX and SEO.

Step 6: Enhance Visual Appeal

Action: Update your website's visual design to be more engaging and focused on your brand identity. Use high-quality images, consistent color schemes, and readable fonts to make your site more attractive and professional.

Step 7: Optimize for Accessibility

Action: Make sure your design is accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. This includes using proper contrast ratios, ensuring keyboard-friendly site navigation, and providing alt text for images.

Step 8: Incorporate Clear CTAs

Action: Design clear and compelling CTAs that guide users to the actions you want them to take. Amazon is a perfect example, whether they're signing up for a newsletter or making a purchase.

Step 9: Test

Action: Use A/B testing to compare design elements and see what works best regarding user engagement and conversion rates.

Installing Google Analytics on your website is very important for watching your site's performance, understanding your audience, and making educated decisions to improve your SEO and website strategy.

Here’s a straightforward guide to getting Google Analytics up and running on your site:

Step 1: Sign Up or Log In to Google Analytics

Action: If you haven’t already, go to Google Analytics and create a Google Analytics account. You can log in using those credentials if you already have a Google account.

Step 2: Set Up a Property in Google Analytics

Action: Once logged in, you must set up a "Property" in your Google Analytics account. This property represents your website. Follow the prompts to enter information about your website, such as its name and the URL.

Step 3: Get Your Tracking Code

Action: Google Analytics will provide a tracking code after setting up your property. This is a snippet of JavaScript code that you'll need to insert into your website's HTML. Copy this code; you'll need it for the next steps.

Step 4: Install the Tracking Code on Your Website

Action: How you install your tracking code will vary depending on how your website is built. If you're using a content management system (CMS) like WordPress, Shopify, or Wix, look for a Google Analytics plugin or an option to add external scripts in the settings.

Step 5: Verify Installation

Action: After installing the tracking code, you can verify its installation by returning to Google Analytics and checking the status of your tracking code.

Step 6: Configure Your Settings

Action: Spend some time configuring your Google Analytics settings. Set up conversion goals, configure filters to exclude internal traffic, and explore linking.

Step 7: Start Analyzing Your Data

Action: Once your tracking code is installed and your settings are configured, analyze the data from Google Analytics. Watch your site's traffic, user behavior, conversion rates, and more to gain valuable insights.
