Corewell Health Greenville Hospital celebrated a “monumental step” last week with the opening of the W. H. Braman Cancer Center, designed to enhance cancer care for patients while honoring the philanthropic legacy of the late Willard “Bill” Braman.
The $4.7 million project — spearheaded by a $4.2 million gift from the Braman family — was completed after 13 months of renovation work at the hospital, which saw existing spaces renovated to enhance infusion and exam capacity for cancer treatment.
The center features additional, enhanced infusion bays that offer more privacy to patients seeking cancer treatment, more comfort and efficiency, renovated team member spaces that offer more peace, and a newly constructed wellness lounge, all of which have transformed the entire cancer care experience for patients and staff at the hospital.
“Beginning today, patients at the W. H. Braman Cancer Care Center will receive comprehensive care in a space thoughtfully designed to support all aspects of healing, including salon services, oncology massage and yoga, acupuncture, music and art therapy, and financial assistance, all offered free of charge. We’re proud to provide a compassionate environment with amenities that help patients feel comforted, cared for, and human throughout their journey, ensuring that whatever the barrier to treatment or healing may be, we will tackle it together.” — Dr. Barbara Schmidtman, vice president of cancer care operations for Corewell Health West
