✈️ WHAT IS MORE ICONIC THAN THIS? ✈️

"Folsom's" DC-3 on floats flying over downtown Greenville! 😍🛩️

At 4:54 p.m. on Monday, September 7, 2026, this incredible piece of aviation history flew right over downtown Greenville.

What a joy it was to look up and see it flying overhead! ❤️

And it didn't just fly over once…

It flew overhead THREE TIMES! ✈️✈️✈️

Please excuse the imperfect video. There was a LOT of excitement happening, and holding the camera steady wasn't exactly my top priority! 😂

It’s not a bird and it’s more than a plane…it’s something one-of-a-kind that was just spotted over Greenville and Moosehead Lake right before the 52nd International Seaplane Fly In, and I think it means we are all in for a special treat!

Many of you know Lisa Devin, the founder of Moosehead Memories and a former Greenville resident. Lisa is now in memory care in southern Maine. While she is no longer able to update the page or share posts herself, we want you to know that Lisa is in good spirits and would absolutely love to hear from you! ❤️

Lisa grew up in Greenville, and I think we can all agree that she has kept us waiting for the next Moosehead Memories post over the years! 😊 She built a following of nearly 10,000 people and spent countless hours scanning old newspaper articles, photographs and treasured memories of the Moosehead Lake Region.

Lisa's maiden name was Gravelle, and I'm sure many of us can say we know at least a few members of that wonderful family. ❤️

And who remembers Lena's Lunch? ☕🥪

Lisa created something truly special. She gave us a place to share OUR memories, laugh, reminisce and travel back in time with her to a different place and a different time.

🍂 A QUICK VIEW OF SPECTACLE POND 🍂

For those of you making your way north to Moosehead Lake for the International Seaplane Fly-In, this is a little taste of what’s waiting for you along the way! 🌲🍁

The leaves are just beginning to change, there’s a definite chill in the air, and you can feel that first hint of fall creeping into the North Woods.

Currently 55° here this morning! 🥶🍂

✈️ THE DC-3 COCKPIT IS COMING TO THE INTERNATIONAL SEAPLANE FLY-IN! ✈️

A little piece of aviation history is making its way to Greenville, Maine, for this year’s International Seaplane Fly-In!

The DC-3 Cockpit will be set up next to the Civil Air Patrol table, right beside the Stobie Hangar on the Moosehead Lake waterfront. Stop by, say hello, and get an up-close look at this incredible piece of aviation history!

💙 Donations will be accepted to help support aviation programs for the Maine Wing of the Civil Air Patrol.

As we get closer to this year’s Fly-In, we thought we’d share this post from September 5, 2025, about the Folsoms’ dream and the return of the world’s only DC-3 on floats to Moosehead Lake. ❤️🛩️

Many now know about the recent revival of the world’s only DC-3 on floats… but how many know about the men behind this incredible achievement?

Rodney Folsom Sr., one of the aircraft’s owners, has dedicated countless hours over the past several years — along with his friend Danny Pelletier (pictured in the first frame of this video) and many others — to bring her back to life. The one-of-a-kind craft was originally the brainchild of his late brother, Max, and their father, Dick Folsom, a renowned local pilot, also contributed along the way.

Over the years, the aircraft has come to be known as the “Folsom’s DC-3.” On September 5, 2025, the dream took flight again. In one frame, Rodney can be seen with famed warbird pilot Eric Zipkin, going over final details just minutes before takeoff.

Getting her into the air takes rigorous testing, endless checklists, and careful taxiing — but when those floats finally lifted off Moosehead Lake, it was all worth it. What a day of pride and celebration for Rodney, his family, and all who had a hand in making this historic moment possible.
