An accident near Ridge and Creampot road in Butler county around 4:30 this afternoon resulted in a fatality. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. No further details are available at this time.

The Greenville Police Department's Special Response Team conducted a search warrant for the GPD's Drug Task Force on Monday, July 20, 2026 at a residence on Sherling Lake Road. The search warrant resulted in the seizure of 18 pounds of ma*****na, 4.1 ounces of crack co***ne, 18 pills of a controlled substance, 1 firearm, and just over $70,000. in cash. Dannie McCall, a 30-year-old black male, was arrested and charged with 3 counts of Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance, 2 counts of Drug Trafficking, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. This seizure is one of the largest in Butler County in recent years and resulted from a months long investigation by Lt. Chad Herring of the Greenville PD's Drug Task Force. This operation demonstrates the Greenville Police Department's commitment to the citizens we serve and their safety. This operation successfully removed a substantial quantity of harmful substances and illicit funds from circulation within the community, significantly enhancing public safety in the city. Chief Justin Lovvorn applauds the GPD' Drug Task Force and Special Response Team's combined efforts to help keep our citizens safe, both now and in future operations.

Update 10:45am. The area is now clear.

Motorists are advised that workers are present near the 133 mm on I-65 Northbound (just north of Greenville). No lanes of traffic are being affected but workers are on the side of the road. Please drive with caution.
