Happy HER Magazine Day! For the August/September issue, we celebrate MOMS in all their beautiful glory. My mom was my hero, my soulmate, my entire world. She was a dance mom, soccer mom, Brownie/Girl Scout mom, piano mom, guitar mom, cheerleading mom, swimming mom, and drama/choir mom. She was incredible. and a true superwoman and so are the dozens of Moms featured in this special issue. Moms should be celebrated every day, not just on Mother's Day or their birthday!

Our cover model is Jaclyn Connelly, mother of 2 daughters, dance mom, soccer mom, owner of Connelly Properties & Finley Kate Designs, Mayor PJ Connelly's wife, and so much more. I am excited to share her story with HER Readers. This issue also features an article & recipe from the Pitt Co. Health Department, advice from our beloved Coach Chris ( Christy Jones), author spotlights from Carla R. Cannon-Lawrence, Shari Lawrence, Donna Flake and a special charity spotlight on Open Door Community Center (Doreen Trottier) located in Washington, NC.

This MOM issue features dozens of amazing MOM spotlights. You will meet soccer moms, karate moms, volleyball moms, swim moms, cheerleader moms, cross country moms, pageant moms, a special mother/daughter spotlight on Pam & Maddy Carraway, owners of Votre Boutique, as well as many more!

Calling all moms! The August issue of HER Magazine will be our "thanks mom" issue. Moms are rock stars and deserve to be recognized on days other than Mother's Day. There are all kinds of Moms from soccer moms, basketball moms, baseball moms, foster moms, dance moms, girl/boy scout moms, cheer-leading moms, etc. I am featuring as many "moms" as possible. If you are a Mom, fit the criteria above, live in eastern, NC and would like to be included, just email me at [email protected]. I will forward a questionnaire to complete and you will be required to submit a photo of you and your child!

This issue is our happiness and mental health issue and features cover models Dr. Britt Causey and Dr. Meredith Davis Perdue, both pediatric dentists at Eastern Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry in Greenville, NC.
A dentist knows the real investment of a healthy smile, which affects overall physical health and can greatly increase confidence. Happiness and smiling go hand-in-hand with mental health and increased happiness has been known to improve mood, reduce stress, increase mental clarity, and can keep you healthy longer.
May is mental health awareness month and it is important that we continue to shed light on the amazing organizations in our community that are assisting those in need. We all need to help people find and maintain happiness by being supportive and happiness, as corny as this may sound, starts with a smile. The National Alliance on Metal Illness (NAMI) estimates that 1,469,000 adults in North Carolina suffer from a mental health condition. More than half of Americans reported that COVID-19 has had a negative impact on their mental health. And one in five adults in the United States live with a mental health condition.
This issue features spotlights on the new recovery facility Haven at Blue Creek, Loving Paws mental health charity, TMS therapy at SMEG Family Mental Health, FiA (Females in Action), Dr. Monica Molini with Ayden Family Dentistry, advice from our beloved Coach Chris, the benefits of equine therapy from Malaika King Albrecht, and a directory of the other amazing female dentists in the area (shout out to my awesome dentist, Natalie B. McCarthy)!

The definition of success is “the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.” Most of us have goals, whether work or personal goals. We decide we want to accomplish something and then work hard to achieve that goal. Here’s the thing we tend to forget, all success happens with the help of others. Success is not a singular act. Success is like a flower garden. In order for flowers to grow, your need seeds, good soil, proper moisture and sunlight and a person willing to water the seeds so they will bloom.
The success we seek is always in site as long we allow others to help guide the way. Ask for help, thank others when you have a success and keep going. I’m excited to share this special success issue with readers. As you will see, the cover has many faces of success. I didn’t want just one face on the cover, I wanted to showcase lots of success stories from authors publishing books on adoption, poetry, elemental witchcraft, deescalation, to small business owners showcasing their models for success, to advice from Coach Chris, healthy habits, how to achieve success at any age and fashion to get you success ready.
So whether you have goals to lose weight, go back to school, change careers mid-life, or simply want to find balance and peace in your life, remember to bring along your friends and family and water those seeds often. I wish you success no matter what you seek. Let’s water our seeds and help each other bloom.

I'm excited to unveil the new 2022 Bridal issue of Her Magazine that was inserted into home deliver papers today. This is our annual bridal issue and features newlyweds Ashley & Landon Toler who were married September 4, 2021. I was honored to officiate their wedding and manage their event. Not only will you get to meet them and enjoy photos and highlights from their special day, you will also meet four additional married couples, who have been together from 4 to 37 years, as they offer advice for new couples about to tie the knot. So whether you have been married months, years, or decades, I wish you a thousand happily every afters.
