Today it popped up on my FB memories that one year ago I launched "Don't Suck Racing". What started as a joke from my wife texting me "Drive fast, don't suck" one morning of an autocross event after previously expressing my frustration of not being any good at it, and later became a sticker reminder self made from a cri-cut.
A year later, I'm still not any good at driving 😅. But, I've gotten a little faster, and more importantly, learned some other things along the way.
This page originally started as a tongue in cheek page to post and share driving oopsies (send them my way !) and not take motorsport so seriously. And maybe to stop annoying my personal friends by posting only car stuff.
I still have grander visions for Don't Suck as an outlet for promoting motorsport as a mental health modality. As of right now, I'm still focusing on getting my YT page off the ground and have been going on my own mental health journey this year.
Let's be honest, I've spent more time standing in a parking lot than I'd care to admit, so most autocrossers probably have at least a few screws loose. But there is also a supportive community and like minded individuals to make friends along the way.
The first pic is the car that started it all, the now defunct , which was realistically not a good car. But it taught me a lot of lessons and started me off into the car and grass roots motorsports communities.
Keep pushing. Keep driving. But more importantly you need to remember, "you don't suck", regardless of what your head says.
