We’ve had so much activity this week at our hummingbird feeder! I’m going to pick up another glass feeder at B.W. Burdette & Son Hardware today so they’ll stop fighting over it. We also have packs of nectar concentrate for only $1!

I’ve been sharing each month which of my plants are blooming. It’s been such a fun series and helpful for my garden planning for next year! Today I’m going to switch it up and show all the things that didn’t make it through the summer. 🙈 Gardening is all about trial and error — and sometimes plants just want to d*e!!

1. Japanese Pieris — the one I planted in the fall looks amazing! I added two more this spring and this one (that gets the most sun) is definitely not coming back. 😅

2. Blue Fescue — I planted 3 and one by one they are turning crispy brown. It’s tempting to think they’re too dry, but I actually think it’s from all the rain we’ve had this year! They’re supposed like well drained soils.

3. Garden Sage — I popped 5 tiny plugs of these that I bought at the hardware store. The 3 in the middle are gorgeous. The ones on either end are d*ad as a door nail!

4. Salvia — I have 4 of these out front. I planted them last spring and they did well all of the 2025 season and survived winter. This summer one of them took a turn for the worse!😭 …

5. Salvia (part 2) — And the other 3 don’t look great either. I’m going to trim them back and see if that new growth at the base will make it through fall.
