The National Weather Service is forecasting an enhanced risk of severe weather for Mississippi on Sunday (3/15/26) evening. The highest threat is in north and central Mississippi, but the entire state could see severe storms.

Mississippi could experience:

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for most of the Delta, starting at 6pm Sunday and continuing until 6am Tuesday morning.  Significant snow accumulation is expected as well as 1/10 inch of ice. Take all necessary precautions, including protecting plants and pets.

Here is the updated graphic depicting the latest information for today's severe weather event. Severe weather is generally expected to start in northeast Louisiana around 1 PM and trek northeastward into central Mississippi later this afternoon. These storms are expected to produce large hail, damaging wind gusts, and Tornadoes, some potentially strong. Please remain vigilant and tune into NOAA weather radio and local news outlets for latest updates on this ongoing event. If you do find yourself under a tornado warning, seek shelter immediately. Additionally there is an elevated risk for flash flooding, particularly south of US 84. Do not attempt to drive into flooded roadways.
