Happy Founders Day to the women of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
On November 12, 1922, seven young Black educators in Indianapolis came together and created a sisterhood rooted in education, service, and leadership. That heart for the community still shows today in every bit of that royal blue and gold I see in front of my camera.
Over the years, I have watched Sigma women mentor students, serve families, and support each other through school, careers, and life. Then you still show up to your sessions polished, joyful, and proud to represent your letters. The love you have for one another and for the people around you is real, and it always shows in the photos.
From probates and chapter events to community service, graduations, weddings, and branding sessions, you have trusted me to be in the room. I have seen the laughs between takes, the quick hair fixes, the inside jokes, the hugs after tears, and the way you hype each other up the moment the camera comes out. Those moments remind me that this is bigger than pictures. It is about legacy and sisterhood.
To every Sigma woman I have had the honor to photograph, thank you for letting True Essence Photography be a small part of your story. Thank you for trusting me with your milestones, your memories, and your bond. Happy Founders Day to the pretty poodles of Sigma Gamma Rho.
