When Charles Balducci, a longtime Greenwich resident and Vice Chairman of Global Lyme Alliance (GLA), was playing golf in Montauk in 2004, he never imagined a tick bite would nearly take his life. Now, more than a decade later, Balducci is leading the charge to fight Lyme disease through his role with GLA, and by chairing the organization’s 4th Annual Charity Golf & Pickleball Tournament on Monday, June 9, 2025, at Greenwich Country Club.

The Town of Greenwich will celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride 2025 with a public event on Sunday, June 1 at 1:00 PM at Greenwich Town Hall. Elected officials, religious and community leaders will join LGBTQ+ residents, families, and allies to honor the beginning of Pride Month with a formal program, flag raising, and community activities.

Hosted by Greenwich Pride in collaboration with the Town of Greenwich, the event will include remarks from civic, community, and faith leaders, the reading of the official proclamation declaring June as LGBTQ+ Pride Month, and the raising of the Pride Progress flag. The full speaker lineup will be announced closer to the date.

Following the ceremony, attendees are invited to enjoy free ice cream, games, music from a live DJ, and visit community tables on the field adjacent to Town Hall. Activities will run through 3:00 PM.

The event affirms that LGBTQ+ people are valued members of Greenwich—as residents, friends, neighbors, teachers, first responders, doctors, artists, parents, and students. In a time when the basic human rights of LGBTQ+ individuals, particularly transgender people, remain at risk, visible allyship and leadership are critical. Pride Month is a chance to come together in celebration and in shared commitment to ensuring equal rights, safety, and belonging for all.
