The walk raises awareness and funds to support YWCA Greenwich’s free domestic and sexual violence services, including counseling, crisis intervention, emergency shelter, criminal court advocacy and a 24/7 hotline. The Greenwich train station opened in 1838, so the transportation hub and early surrounding structures predated widespread automobile use. For the most part, businesses on Railroad Ave have historic exemptions from parking requirements. At Greenwich Crossing the applicant said they had been unable to secure a nationally prominent restaurant tenant and asked P&Z for more seating (from 112 to 150). The commission ruled in favor, but said they were concerned about traffic and parking, given there is already times when people can't find a parking spot and park illegally. The applicant said the other developments and businesses shared some responsibility to manage traffic as well. The First Selectman spoke in strong support of the expanded seating. https://bit.ly/4dimlEF

Almost 7 hours into last night's P&Z meeting was the pre-application for a 6-story building at Putnam Green... One speaker during public comment said she was alarmed, noting there is not only a lot of development already approved within 200 ft of Putnam Green, but thousands of new units over the line in Port Chester. Commissioner Nick Macri pointed out that Putnam Green is screened by mature trees. Commissioner Ann Noel Jones described it as a park like setting.
"To develop this site you really have to denude most of the site to get this to work right," Macri said.
Attorney for the applicant said, "We have to bear the arrows of the neighborhood and hopefully we’ll work with the affordable trust fund and there will be a counter-approach to deal with the project."

Many of you in Greenwich know Florio Tiramani who went through Greenwich Schools – Parkway, CMS and GHS. He now lives in Oregon after joining the Marines and studying at UConn Stamford. Florio is a big fan of rescue dogs! He plans to participate in The Found Charity Ultra, a backyard-style ultra marathon on Sunday, Oct 4. From sunrise to sunset Florio will run with rescue dogs to benefit Street Dog Hero a rescue that pulls dogs off the streets in Oregon and abroad and helps them to go on to live their best lives.
