On December 9, 2025 at approximately 1:20 PM, a Uniform Patrol deputy from Team 1 was proactively patrolling in eastern Greenwood County when he observed an SUV sitting at the end of a secondary street and was pulled off in a manner which partially concealed it. The deputy approached the vehicle and made contact with two occupants. While speaking with the occupants, the deputy smelled the odor of ma*****na emanating from the vehicle. The deputy questioned the occupants and the passenger admitted that there was ma*****na in the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted and the following illegal narcotics were located:
2 separate bags containing a total of 58.03 grams of ma*****na
Box containing 332.80 grams of mushrooms
4 packs of THC gummies
3 containers of THC balls
1 box of THC cartridges
6 empty vacuum sealed bags that contained ma*****na residue
Further investigation revealed that one of the occupants admitted possession of all illegal narcotics except for one bag of ma*****na. Two arrests were made. One was cited and released for possession of ma*****na, the other was transported to the Greenwood County Detention Center for booking and housing where charges of Distribution Of A Controlled Substance, Schedule I & II were made.
Let's give this deputy a hand on a job well done! Proactive patrol is an important part of what we do and is necessary to be able to get drugs and drug dealers off the streets!
