Are you sourcing plants for a fall planting? Sparrowhawk Native Plants has announced their fall pop up locations (and sponsors), dropped their plant list (linked in comments), and shared the online ordering opens on August 16th at 9am. They have competitive prices and a reliable selection, usually with a few surprise rarer plants.

Check out the list! Comment below with what you are excited to bring into your habitat. I'm looking at tea tree/red stem ceanothus 👀

Picture is a shady disconnected downspout with a copper rain chain, large river rocks, maidenhair fern, false lily of the valley, smith's fairy bells, swordfern, early blue violet, brunnera (nonnative), and of course, a birdbath 💦🐦💙

Here's how to support your local owl! ❤️

Tuesday, August 4 is International Owl Awareness Day. We can help these amazing, enigmatic birds by not using rodenticides, growing local natives, leaving the leaves, and retaining snags.

Ever wonder what we do besides fun, pop up plant sales? We love to create habitat!! These pictures are from East Gresham Park, where Keren has been working over the last year plus a bit to build habitat and showcase native plants. Pictured are 2 of the 3 areas; The Annex, where work started in March 2025, and The Rain Garden, which was created in January 2026. Not pictured is The Bridge area. We are working on getting all 3 areas certified through the Backyard Habitat Certification Program, and The Annex currently is certified at the Silver level!

View from my porch, as I finish watering the front yard for the first time this season. My goal is to water the front 1x month this year (of course spot watering new babies).

This...slowing down, enjoying the product of our labors that we share with the amazing creatures around us, this is what summer is all about. Happy solstice (almost) Friends of Hags! ❤️
