This is a reminder not to drink and drive. Deputies were working a single vehicle accident on Highway 19 when a car driven by Octavius Ward, 37 years of age, entered the accident scene at a high rate of speed. Ward’s vehicle crashed into the rear of a patrol car causing a massive amount of damage to it. A total of five vehicles were involved and had to be towed from the site of the crash.

Ward was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and was subsequently arrested. We are thankful no serious injuries resulted from this incident.

Please Keep Easton and Savannah in Your Prayers

Our Pike County Rec family is asking for prayers for two of our own, Savannah and Easton, who were involved in a terrible accident this past Sunday.

Savannah is currently in stable condition and has even been able to get up and walk — a true testament to her strength. However, she is in unimaginable pain as she recovers from a broken ankle, a broken wrist, and a compression fracture in her spine.

Her brother, Easton, is facing a much tougher road. He remains sedated due to the severity of his injuries and is heading into surgery today. He needs all the love, strength, and prayers we can send — not just for him, but for his family and the medical team working so hard to care for him.

A GoFundMe has been created to help the family during this time, and they will share it in the comments. But right now, we’re simply asking for our community to come together and lift Savannah, Easton, and their loved ones up in prayer.
