I’m fighting for my life here

This is an excerpt on the story how I went from full time stylist, to salon owner, to part time stylist, to retired. In these last 17 years I’ve learned a lot, mostly about myself.

What is a mobile salon?!

Perhaps due to my own bias I tend to assert that people should know from the title itself/context. I also try to be considerate and not assume selective obliviousness when educating on the topic, but honestly, it’s an effort 😅

Regardless, I’m stepping into the arena of education and completely away from styling hair. Launching a mobile business was done with the intent of positioning myself by way of physical evidence/a model of what can be achieved with sacrifice and investment.

Aren’t you tired of paying rent for your salon suite or brick n mortar location?

If you feel like you MUST receive tips, just go get a job 💞

Tips are typically from people who obviously have the extra money but just want to go above and beyond to show their appreciation. Feeling like you’re owed a tip I think is a young or new to the industry mentality, because you don’t really make that much so you’re hungry for extra.

While nothings wrong with that it’s important to take a step back and properly analyze your position in order to know whether you are a candidate for tips, to learn to accept some tip, most Don’t and it’s nothing wrong with never receiving a tip.

What are your thoughts about tipping?

Scalp massager 😌💞

Tips:
Don’t mush or press too firmly while using a scalp massager on your natural hair, protective styles or straightened tresses you may cause irritation

Gentle but firm small rotations in one spot with shampoo lathered working one small section at a time.

Ideal style:

I feel I can personally control this tool better than the smaller ones that are supposed to line up between your fingers (perhaps due to the slip of the shampoo) but experiment with a couple to know what you think is best.
