Your words carry more power than you realize.
They can either tear down or breathe life into the people around you.
“Therefore, laying aside falsehood, speak truth each one of you with his neighbor, for we are members of one another… Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear. Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God… Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.” (Ephesians 4:25, 29–32, NASB 1995)
Today, every conversation is an opportunity. Your words can encourage the discouraged, restore trust, calm anger, and point people toward Christ. One thoughtful, grace-filled sentence spoken at the right moment can change the entire direction of someone’s day.
The question is simple but penetrating:
Will your words today build up the body of Christ… or will they grieve the Holy Spirit?
Let your speech be shaped by the gospel. Someone around you needs to hear life-giving words today.
Who will you intentionally build up with your words before this day ends?
