The Shopper has concluded its operations for the year, signifying the conclusion of our twelfth year in business.
This year has presented some unique challenges. We have consistently operated on tight margins to minimize costs for advertisers, prioritizing service over profit. In June, we incorporated sports content, which received positive feedback, but securing sponsorships has proven challenging. In addition to the escalating cost of postage, delayed payments from advertisers, and the ongoing challenge of filling issues, the current situation is becoming increasingly untenable.
As we take this break for the holidays and determine our course of action for the new year, I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who has advertised and supported us over the years. Your advertising support of the Shopper was invaluable to its success. We value the trust you place in us and are eager to see what the future holds.
As always, we encourage everyone to shop local. Shopping local has a significant impact that extends far beyond the individual transaction. It helps retain money within your community, supports your neighbors, and strengthens the local economy. When you need to make a purchase, consider visiting a local shop. It is an investment in the vitality of your town.
We extend our best wishes for a wonderful holiday season and a prosperous new year.
