Apple’s Black Friday deal is here!

Right now, when you buy select Apple products, you can get an Apple Gift Card worth up to $250, depending on what you buy.

This is one of the few times all year Apple gives you any kind of incentive. It’s not really a discount, but if you’ve been thinking about upgrading, this is one of the better times to do it.

Offer runs through December 1, online and in Apple Stores.

Which device are you getting?

We discuss two helpful iPhone features for easier one-handed use: shrinking the keyboard to one side and using reachability to access top part of your screen easier.

11/21/2025

We talk about how you can change the focus point and adjust the depth effect on your portrait photos taken with an iPhone 13 or newer model, using the built-in editing tools in the Photos app.

We discuss the possibility that Apple's new 'liquid glass' design feature, announced at WWDC, could be a subtle hint at the development of future Apple Glasses. The idea is that the more natural, see-through visual style may be better suited for smart glasses where digital information needs to blend seamlessly with the real world, rather than block the user's view.

We talk about a handy iPhone hack that allows you to easily undo accidental text deletion. By tapping with three fingers on the screen or shaking your device, you can quickly restore any highlighted text that was mistakenly deleted

Episode 2 of The Tech Desk Weekly is now live.
This week’s episode changed a bit from what I originally planned because realistically, Apple is done releasing products for the year. Instead of covering devices that probably won’t come until next year, I focused on what is actually happening right now.

Here’s what I break down in this episode:

• The now sold-out iPhone Pocket
• Tesla possibly adding Apple CarPlay
• The iPhone Air fallout

These episodes will start off a little shorter while I get more comfortable with the podcast format, but they’ll get longer over time.

You can watch the video version on YouTube or listen to the audio version wherever you get your podcasts. Your support means a lot. Let me know what topics you want me to cover in next week’s episode.

We talk about a faster way to delete or share multiple photos in the Photos app on iPhone. Instead of tapping each photo individually, you can tap and drag to select a group of photos, then delete or share them all at once. Also, AirDrop is still the fastest way to share a lot of photos.

11/19/2025

We talk about a hidden iPhone keyboard trick that lets you use the space bar as a trackpad to easily move the cursor around. This is perfect for fixing long messages or annoying autocorrect mistakes where you can't directly edit the highlighted word.

Most people don’t realize this… Apple Pay doesn’t send your real card number to stores, doesn’t share your info, and Apple doesn’t even know what you bought.

I’m excited to share something new. A weekly podcast called The Tech Desk Weekly.

I’m starting with shorter episodes for now as I get more comfortable with the podcast format, and over time they’ll get a little longer and more detailed.

Each week I’ll break down what’s going on in the Apple world and mix in some of my own personal experiences from testing updates and using these devices every day. It’s a simple, straightforward way to stay up to date without getting overwhelmed.

If you prefer video, you can watch the full episode on YouTube.
If you prefer audio only, you can listen to it wherever you get your podcasts.

The first episode covers iOS 26.1 and iOS 18.7.2: A few of the things that are new, A few of the things that are fixed, and whether you should update. Thanks for the support as I start this new part of the journey.

11/12/2025

We discuss the latest iOS 18.7.2 update, highlighting its importance for security and compatibility for iPhones that can't update to iOS 26 or for users that aren't ready to upgrade to iOS26.

11/12/2025

If your iPhone feels slow, warm, or the battery drains faster right after installing iOS 26.1, don’t panic.
That’s completely normal. Your iPhone is just re-indexing photos, messages, and search data in the background. A process that can take anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours depending on your storage. In this clip, I break down what’s really happening after the update, how long it should last, and what to do if issues like Wi-Fi or Bluetooth problems stick around. Watch the full iOS 26.1 breakdown on my channel for all the updates and fixes Apple included in this release.
