New evidence confirms the scale of this fast-growing threat: In a UNICEF, ECPAT and INTERPOL study across 11 countries, at least 1.2 million children* disclosed having had their images manipulated into sexually explicit deepfakes in the past year. In some countries, this represents 1 in 25 children – the equivalent of one child in a typical classroom.

Marie Locklin also sat down with The Blackwater Report - I love her deep rooted knowledge in our area and she has been a wealth of information whenever I’ve needed to bounce ideas off of her.

In her interview she covers one of the biggest issues our district is currently facing in the classroom and I feel a lot of parents need to listen because she explains it so well. She discusses expanding CTE (yes!!), mental health, budget constraints and our shared goal of bringing town halls to our district, similar to our neighbors in Escambia and Okaloosa.

Looking forward the privilege to serve along side her.

Reminder - early voting starts Aug 3 with the final vote on Tuesday August 18. Let’s not push district 5 into a runoff in November. 😉

I’m often asked why I don’t share photos or videos of my children online. I’ve been asked to share positive posts from schools that include photos of students but I won’t. I’m firm on that.

This image is why I don’t. I can’t vet every single set of eyes on these children. I had millions of unique views last month… more than enough to sell out multiple stadiums. It would be irresponsible.

AI Deep Fakes are very real and very scary and I created this image in under 30 seconds as an example. And to think our district was trying to put a universal ID card with kids names on them and then blast them to social media… 🤦‍♀️
