2026 Heroes of the Gulf Coast

The definition of a hero is an ordinary individual who faced extraordinary circumstances and acted with courage, honor, and self-sacrifice. Sunny 105, with the Sea Glass Initiative is proud to present the 2nd annual Heroes of the Gulf Coast April 23, 2026.

Do you know a hero? Maybe they helped someone in an accident, maybe they freed a snagged animal, maybe they saved a life. Whatever their heroic act, they stepped above and beyond when they didn’t have to; and we want to know about them.



If you know someone from the Gulf Coast area that you’d consider a hero, tell us their story! The Undertow Bar & Grill located at 25025 Canal Road in Orange Beach will host the 14th Annual Tailgate Chef’s Challenge beginning at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17. Many cooking teams will be competing in the Undertow’s Back 40 Courtyard for a golden ticket into November’s World Food Championships in Indianapolis. In addition to the Golden ticket, the Challenge winner receives $500 and a trophy.
Tasting tickets are $20 per person and include 10 samples and various door prizes, drawings, raffles and auctions, with proceeds helping to offset expenses incurred by Cancer patient Kara Michelle Quinnelly. Sunny 105 will be broadcasting live to kick off the event beginning at 11am. For details and registration information call 251-981-3331

🚧 Beach Walking District - Phase 3 is Underway! 🌴

Work has started on W 1st Ave, from Hwy 59 through the W 1st St intersection. This project includes:
✅ New stormwater piping
✅ Sidewalk improvements
✅ On-street parking
✅ Enhanced landscaping

𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁: During construction, this section of W 1st Ave will be one-way westbound only.

The project is scheduled to be complete by Memorial Day, just in time for summer!
