Two Georgia residents are behind bars in Jacksonville, Florida, following a multi-jurisdictional investigation into allegations that four children spent years confined inside the cab of a semitruck.

According to court documents, the children had been living in the truck driven by 51-year-old Keisha Monique Epps since December 2019. Epps reportedly drove for a company operating between Atlanta and Miami.

Investigators allege all four children were forced to sleep together in a single bunk. They reportedly had to lie curled up because there was not enough room for them to stretch out. The children said they were rarely permitted to leave the cab, including to use a restroom, and were not provided adequate food, exercise or freedom of movement.

Their education allegedly stopped as well. Investigators said the children’s last confirmed enrollment in a recognized school was in November 2020. They were later directed to use an app that was neither an accredited institution nor recognized as a formal educational program.

The children also reportedly went without medical and dental care, even when they were sick or injured. According to the arrest report, one child was severely burned by cooked noodles but was never taken for medical treatment, leaving her permanently scarred.

The allegations extend far beyond neglect.

Epps’ co-defendant, 37-year-old Tamra Stewart, is accused of SA’ing the children while Epps was driving, sleeping or showering. The children reportedly told investigators that they disclosed the abuse to Epps, but she did not believe them and continued leaving them alone with Stewart.

Stewart is also accused of repeatedly punching the children in the head. Epps allegedly called the children derogatory names and blamed them for Stewart’s behavior.

When a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office detective first encountered the children, they were reportedly walking with an unnatural gait that investigators attributed to years spent confined inside the truck’s cab.

Epps was booked into the Duval County jail on four counts of child neglect. Court records list a bond of $100,003 on each count, along with strict conditions that include GPS monitoring and no contact with minors, victims, witnesses or co-defendants. Stewart faces capital sexual battery charges.

Both remained in the Duval County jail as of Wednesday night. These allegations have not yet been proven in court.

🚨 SHE NEVER THOUGHT A CUP OF CONTAMINATED ICE WOULD COST HER HER LIFE. πŸ§ŠπŸ’”

Ayla Garcia, a 36-year-old mother of four, traveled from Virginia to Kenya on a church mission trip to love on orphaned children and serve others.

According to her family, she consumed ice made from contaminated water and contracted a severe Salmonella infection.

Within days, the infection spread throughout her body.

Because Ayla was living with sickle cell disease, her condition became even more critical. The infection affected her blood, kidneys, and liver. She underwent multiple blood transfusions, dialysis, and fought for her life in a Kenyan ICU.

In a heartbreaking video from her hospital bed, she struggled to breathe as she said:

β€œI’m still in Kenya… and I’m trying to make it home.”

She never got the chance.

On July 24, 2026, Ayla passed away, leaving behind four children who now face life without their mother.

πŸ’” She traveled across the world to help children who had already experienced loss. Now her own children are living that same unimaginable heartbreak.

Please keep Ayla Garcia’s children, family, and loved ones in your prayers. Life can change in an instant. πŸ•ŠοΈ
