Insanity
After seeing Council President Glavan,'s efforts to ban the words "Dixie Mafia" from being said at City Council Meetings, Mayor "FoFo" Gilich had another genius idea: why not just ban those words in the entire City? Under the newly proposed "Dixie Mafia Sensitivity Ordinance", residents will no longer be permitted to utter the phrase anywhere within city limits, including restaurants, grocery stores, barber shops, fishing piers, or even when laying next to your spouse in bed at night.
When asked about the ordinance, Mayor “FoFo” Gilich reportedly explained, “Look, the Sherry Murders were a long time ago, and every time someone says ‘Dixie Mafia’ it just makes me sad. I hear those words and suddenly I get this urge to ‘take people out,’ and that’s not the kind of urge a mayor should be having. So the simplest solution is just to make sure nobody says it anymore. If the words disappear, then the problem disappears, and I won’t have the urge anymore.”
Officials are reportedly also considering expanding the list of banned terms in the future to include other troublesome phrases such as “corruption,” “accountability,” and “oversight.” Sources inside City Hall say the mayor believes the policy could dramatically improve the tone of civic discourse, noting that if residents simply stop saying negative things about their government, the problem will effectively solve itself. After all, nothing strengthens public trust quite like making sure nobody is allowed to talk about it.
