Democrats host both U.S. Senate Runoff Candidates and Auditor Nominee Violet Edwards at June 2 meeting

Both Democratic U.S. Senate Primary Runoff Election candidates are on the agenda of the June 2 joint meeting of the Marshall County Democratic Executive Committee and Marshall County Democratic Club.

“This is a unique opportunity for voters to hear closing arguments from challengers Dakarai Larriett and Everett Wess who will go head-to-head on the June 16 runoff election ballot for the Democratic party nomination,” explained County Chair Susan McKenney.

“The winner will take on the Republican choice for U.S. Senate who will be decided in the GOP runoff that same day, and we caution voters that it is unlawful to vote in one party’s primary election then “crossover” and attempt to vote in the other party’s primary runoff election,” McKenney added.

Democratic nominee for Auditor Violet B. Edwards is also scheduled to speak and there will be a brief presentation of the May 19 Primary election results in Marshall County which saw Democratic voter turnout more than double over 2024 primary turnout for Democrats while Republican turnout decreased from two years ago.

RSVP for the event by Monday, June 1 via email to [email protected] or call 256-558-1927. The public is welcome and attendees are asked to bring non-perishable goods for donation to area food banks.

The Tuesday, June 2 meeting with Democratic U.S. Senate candidates Larriett and Wess begins at 6:00 p.m. at the Guntersville Public Library’s community center located behind the main library building, 1240 Obrig Avenue.
