Confessions: Alys - The Name He Couldn't Bury

In September of 1965, 18-year-old Alys Eberhardt returned home after a day of nursing classes in Hackensack, New Jersey.

Evil had followed her home.

Alys was brutally murdered inside her family’s house in Fair Lawn, and for decades her case remained unsolved, leaving her loved ones with questions that seemed destined to go unanswered.

But in late 2025, serial killer Richard Cottingham confessed to the crime, revealing details about Alys’s murder that investigators had kept private for more than sixty years.

In this new episode of Method & Madness, we remember Alys Eberhardt, who she was, the life she was just beginning, and the truth that finally came to light after decades of silence.
