Bear Aware: On July 4, 2025, a bear cub/yearling was sighted in a residential backyard tree in West Ketchum, Idaho. The Idaho Fish and Game Department has been alerted and feels this bear doesn't currently pose a threat, provided it is left alone.

We are asking residents to be "Bear Aware".
Never approach bears, do not attempt to feed it or take pictures with it. Keep pet food and food in general in appropriate containers and garbage receptacles. Keep your trash can inside your garage until the morning of pickup. Bears generally only become a threat when they become conditioned to human food.

We can all help keep this bear safe until it wanders back to the forest.

Please remember we live in an area where we could possibly stumble across venomous snakes. This photo is a smaller Rattle snake that was found in Memorial Park in Bellevue. We have checked the park and did not see any other snakes. Rattle snakes are normally out in the canyons, however they can and do come into town from time to time. If you see one please do not try and relocate it yourself.

Heads Up and Out of Your Phones, Folks!
Several of the Mama elk near Chapman Ranch, north west of Hailey, now have newborn calves. We received a report that last night, about eight elk with brand-new calves were seen trying to cross the highway in the dark. Please slow down in this corridor (and everywhere else, too) and be on the lookout for wildlife. No one wants a moose hood ornament. Let's protect our wildlife.
