6.1 Hemi Marketplace find! I’m sad that there isn’t a lot left that’s in good shape but I got my moneys worth for some pistons, a camshaft, oil pan and harmonic balancer. I’ll take the crank to a machine shop to see if it’s worth saving or not.

I was “SHOCKED” to see just how bad these were 😂. But seriously the front end of this truck needs some serious attention. We need a Disc Brakes setup for sure if this is gonna handle Hemi power.

I made a BIG mistake on my wife’s car. Thankfully a helicoil was all I needed to remedy it. Over torquing the drainplug is the only reason this happens and though I’m not using the power of Zeus to tighten it, I may have over torqued is by maybe a few foot-pounds. That’s all it takes to screw these up. I may have to do this to the SRT too come to think of it.

Is this engine toast? Here’s what I think. Comment your thoughts though, where I’m not finding this super fine metallic deposits anywhere else I think we are good.

Jeep 3.8 misfire caused by some of the worst spark plug wires I’ve seen. They were like disintegrating in my hand! No wonder they didn’t work! What would you do in this distraction though? Was what I did the right move??? # # # # #

I found a super cool GM PD-4103 bus that was converted into an RV back in the day. This one has lived in the southwest so the body and frame are solid. I show you the engine, transmission, susoension and axles. I walk through the inside layout and suggest how I would tow it home with my Holmes 600 wrecker. It is tempting but I have to stay focused on the Moreland project.

Cold start on a Mitsubishi J-Series Jeep with the 4DR5 diesel. Big cloud of startup smoke and then it settles into that smooth indirect-injection idle. It may be cranky starting cold, but it’s always started and has never let me down. I show how the three on the tree shifts and how this little forklift-derived motor crawls over obstacles. These old licensed CJ-style rigs are just cool mechanical diesel machines.

This Dana S135 came out of of an F550 but they are used in all sorts of medium duty vehicles. I like it because it shares brake calipers with my front axle so parts are easy to get anywhere. It also bolted right in where the original Timken worm drive lived with only minimal modifications. For a truck that was designed around serious payloads this is about as close to a perfect axle as you can get.
