A former New York City Department of Sanitation Superintendent owned thousands of images and videos of child po*******hy — including on a flash drive in the front pocket of his DSNY jacket.
Victor Alvelo, 61, was arrested on child po*******hy charges on Tuesday after investigators busted him for having thousands of the disturbing images of pre-pubescent children inside his Bronx home, according to the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.
Alvelo who served as a General Superintendent of the DSNY until his retirement in 2025 kept the thousands kf images of pre-pubescent children, some as young as age 12, in his residence between August 2022 and Monday, federal prosecutors said.
A search warrant for Alvelo’s home was authorized by a judge last Tuesday over information “concerning a large amount of child po*******hy images and videos being shared over a peer-to-peer file network,” according to a criminal complaint.
The suspicious online activity was traced to an IP address associated with Alvelo’s home, a Special Agent with the Department of Homeland Security’s Child Exploitation Investigations Unit wrote in the filing.
Inside the home, officers uncovered a USB flash drive in the front pocket of a DSNY-branded jacket that contained personal photos, various documents related to his sanitation duties, and 154 images and videos depicting child po*******hy, the feds said.
Additional child po*******hy files were discovered on a computer hard drive in his home office, the complaint detailed.
Alvelo frequently posted pictures on his Instagram smiling with his family, including his daughter and niece, attending rock concerts, and playing guitar.
He has been charged with one count of possessing child po*******hy, including images and videos of prepubescent minors and minors who had not attained 12 years of age.
Alvelo faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
