The Highway 1 repaving project seemed like such a simple public works project — but it has morphed into something larger and more controversial. Coastside News presents the first installment of its new podcast, "Our Stories." Tune in at noon on March 25 on KHMB Radio or Spotify to hear Coastside News reporters Sebastian Miño-Bucheli and Kathryn Wheeler discuss some of their recent stories with host David Gorn.

Under the bright lights of Golden 1 Center, the home of the Sacramento Kings, the Half Moon Bay High School girls varsity basketball team took the court for the CIF Division IV state championship game Saturday morning—something no team in girls program history at the school had done before. For the Cougars, it was a moment bigger than basketball.

Facing a tough Whitney squad, the Cougars battled until the final buzzer but fell short, 48-40. Despite the loss, their season will be remembered for the barriers they broke and the history they made. Not only was this the first state championship appearance for the Half Moon Bay girls team, it was also the first time a girls Central Coast Section team in their division had reached the title game since 1992.

The Half Moon Bay High School girls varsity basketball team fell behind 10-0 to start the championship game Saturday morning in Sacramento. After that, the team returned to its winning
