Happy Thanksgiving! On Thanksgiving 1973, Country Music Hall of Fame members George Jones and Tammy Wynette appeared in the forty-seventh annual Macy's in New York City. They performed their No. 1 duet “We’re Gonna Hold On” while riding the now-iconic Tom Turkey float, which made its debut that year.

Jones and Wynette, who married in 1969 and divorced in 1975, recorded several hit duets, including “The Ceremony,” “Golden Ring,” and “Two Story House,” most of which were produced by Country Music Hall of Fame member Billy Sherrill. After their divorce, Jones and Wynette earned their only #1 album together, 1976’s “Golden Ring,” and reunited for two additional duet albums: “Together Again” in 1980 and “One” in 1995. Country Music Hall of Fame member Tony Brown and Norro Wilson produced the latter album.

Throughout his seven-decade career, Jones earned nine solo No. 1s, seven CMA Country Music Association awards, five ACM - Academy of Country Music awards, and two Grammy Awards. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1992 and was a The Kennedy Center honoree in 2008.

Wynette earned sixteen solo No.1 hits and won three consecutive CMA Female Vocalist of the Year awards (1968–1970), two ACM awards, and two Grammys. She was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1998.
