“We're not from an area where you would expect this to happen,” said Catherine Mammoser, daughter of Mammoser Farms owner Don Mammoser. “Farming is a stressful job as it is. … Then we're adding this additional stress from something that we never expected, that we wouldn’t have ever had to go through. Just repairing the stuff around here has been a challenge to keep things going.” One year later: Town of Eden's Mammoser Farms rebuilds, recovers, and refuses to quit after devastating tornado. “No, I didn’t really,” said former Hamburg Central School District Superintendent Michael Cornell about returning to the day-to-day academic setting. “I have a consulting business that I enjoy doing, coaching superintendents throughout the state and working with districts around the state on strategic plans. I found that to be satisfying and interesting, so I wasn’t out there looking for another job. I loved the work I did in Hamburg. Loved the people and the kids. The one thing you don’t get when you’re consulting is serving kids. To have the opportunity to serve kids again, but in a different role, is an interesting challenge.” Cornell selected as interim president of Hilbert College. Available now for Sun+ subscribers. Available in print next Friday.

The rental fee for an event that would include alcohol consumption and use of the patio space would be $350 for a resident and $400 for a non-resident. There would also be a $200 security deposit for every rental.

“We believe that makes it clear to people that want to rent our facility that we mean business,” said Village of Hamburg Parks & Recreation Supervisor Josh Haeick. “We want the community center to be respected. We don’t want it to be a raging party.”

Rules put in place to allow alcohol for weekend rented events at Hamburg Village Community Center. Available now for Sun+ subscribers. Available in print on Friday.
