What’s a Tip of The Hat Show?

In a world where a divide often exists between die-hard fans of local music and casual listeners who belt out iconic hits on their morning commute, Tip of The Hat aims to bridge that gap—one unforgettable show at a time.

Imagine a classic songwriter round, then stir in just a dash of The Voice or American Idol.

What you get is an intimate, powerful experience where emerging singer-songwriters not only perform their own originals but also pay tribute to the legendary artists who shaped their musical journeys.

Each show features four acts, each performing a mix of their own songs and select tracks from a chosen “icon of the month.” The result? Audiences are guaranteed to recognize at least half the setlist, while being introduced to rising talent carrying the torch of those musical giants.

More than just a concert, Tip of The Hat is a gateway—a meeting place where mainstream music lovers discover new voices, and where local artists share the stage with the spirit of their heroes. It’s the bowl of fresh fruit in the middle of a long lunch table—the connection point between the indie singer/songwriter and the listener who just hasn’t heard them yet.

🎉 ANNOUNCEMENT 🎉�New Single Coming September 26th from Liz Reed on Bigger Beast Records

This morning, we're thrilled to share some truly special news. On September 26th, Liz Reed will release her debut single on Bigger Beast Records — a stunning track titled "Maybe Kind of World", available on all digital music platforms.

This beautifully crafted and emotionally poignant ballad was inspired by Liz’s deep, personal bond with her daughter. The song evokes the introspective tenderness of Jim Croce's “Time in a Bottle”, the lyrical honesty of Tim Hardin, and the graceful, emotive vocal spirit of mid-70s Janis Ian.

Recorded at Tiny Bunker Studios, “Maybe Kind of World” features the incredible recording and production talents of fellow Bigger Beast artist Stephen Peter Rodgers, and label-mate Bryan Titus on strings and backing vocals.

The result is a track that we truly believe marks a major moment for Liz along her incredible community driven artistic journey.

For those who know Liz, this moment is even more meaningful. She’s not just a gifted singer-songwriter. She's a public school music teacher, a mother, an activist, a poet, and an essential part of the Bigger Beast Records family and mission. Her artistry, passion, and heart are felt in everything she touches.

Undercover Cameo got a major premiere and 5 star review in Glide Magazine today, and their show at The United Theatre tonight in Westerly, RI is sold out! There’s still some tickets left for their show in partnership with New Music Alliance co-billed with Peter Newland on Saturday @ The Guilded Brick in Holyoke, MA - grab them while you can! Their first Bigger Beast single, “Hands” drops at Midnight!

Tonight as well - Our Tip of The Hat Show has the most advance tickets to any of TOTH shows in partnership with CONNartists yet! Woodbury Brewing Company will have Halley Neal, Sam Robbins, Laura Clapp, & Anne Marie Menta sharing the stage and paying tribute to Carole King! Tickets available at the door!
