On earth, we watch flags wave. We hug at airports. We cry at surprise reunions. A soldier’s return is sacred — the war is over, the fight is done, the family is whole again.

But Heaven knows a different kind of homecoming.

Another soldier's coming home.
Not to a base. Not to a barracks. But to glory.
This soldier fought a different kind of war — the war of faith. The daily battles against fear, against pain, against the weight of this broken world. 2 Timothy 4:7 says, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."

Another warrior hears the call he’s waited for so long.
"Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter into the joy of your Master." Matthew 25:23
That call isn’t a deployment order. It’s a welcome. The trumpet isn’t for battle — it’s for arrival. After years of longing, of believing without seeing, the warrior finally hears the voice he’s lived for.

He’ll battle no more, cause he’s won his war.
Revelation 21:4 promises it: "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain."
No more chemo. No more PTSD. No more cancer. No more grief. No more struggle to trust. The armor comes off. The scars remain, but now they’re testimonies. Because of Jesus, the war is already won.

Wait for heaven’s table, there’s room for at least one more.
Luke 14 tells us the Father keeps pulling up chairs. Heaven isn’t crowded. The feast isn’t full. The Father still scans the horizon for prodigals and ushers warriors to their seats. There’s always room for one more at the table where grace is the meal and joy never runs out.

Strike up the band. Assemble the choir. Sing a welcome song.
We grieve here. We miss them here. But Heaven? Heaven throws a party.
Imagine it: The angels lining the streets. The saints rising to their feet. The Savior Himself saying, "Welcome home, My good and faithful one."

If you’ve lost a warrior…
They aren’t lost. They’re home. They aren’t fighting. They’re resting. They aren’t gone. They’ve just gone ahead. And one day, when we hear our own call, they’ll be first in the choir singing our welcome song.

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You that death isn’t the end — it’s a homecoming. For every soldier of the faith who’s come home, we say thank You for their victory. Comfort those of us still in the battle. Hold us until we hear our call. And help us live today like Heaven’s table has a seat with our name on it. Because it does. Amen.

Drop a 🤍 if you’re remembering a warrior today.
Who are you looking forward to hugging again at Heaven’s table?
